    3. Hi Clydie, I'm waiting for one of the photo developers to have another sale :-) I have several rolls to be developed but will be sure and keep you in mind if they turn out printable. BTW, I've found out that this Richard Rowland Kirkland's family was from the Kershaw area. Not sure about his grandparents but his father was a large land-owner in Kershaw County prior to the Civil War. Richard and his brother Samuel were both killed without having married so there would be no descendants of these two brothers. Their brother William did have children. All this info is found on the web sites I sent; very interesting reading :-) Will be in touch when I have the pictures developed. 3. Some Burkett researchers may be interested in this note of Folks Huxford, written long ago. I found it in the Burkett folder in the Huxford Library. Compare this with the write-up on William Burkett in "Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia" Volume II, pages 52-53. Enos Burkett, Sr., married first unknown. Married second -?- Dyal. 3. I sent a reply to erowe@surfsouth.com and it was returned, saying the user "erowe" is not known. Hopefully, whoever had the question about John Wesley Burkett can get this information that I am sending to the list. Connie Rowe wrote: > I have one Burkett in my file and I no absolutely zero about him other > than his name was John W. Burkett married to Lucinda Tanner who was b > 1851. Her parents were Robert Green Tanner and Elmira Hall. Do you > know of this particular John Burkett? I have not researched the family of John W. Burkett, but: According to Huxford in "Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia" Coffee Co., Volume III, page 32, John W. Burkett was the son of Bartillery Burkett and Lavinia Taylor. Also, according to Ward's History of Coffee County, pg. 69, John was the son of Bartillery and Viney Taylor. Children of John and Lucinda Tanner were Bartillery, who married Carrie Woods; Lucinda, who married "Jug" Douglas; Johnie, who married a Martin; Lige, who married an Ellis; Linnie, who married Jule Wilcox; Emmie, who married Mark Hall; Minnie who married Lyman Hays; and Mintie, who married George Pridgen. Some of John's children are buried in Burkett Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Clyde

    3. I am looking for Isaiah (Isiah) Thomas, b.abt. 1816, perhaps in Coffee County. He and Nancy White(b.7/20/1818, Ware Co.), had a child Cassie, b.5/5/1839. It is rumored Isaiah went to Fl. for a time, and when he returned they were married and had other children. Cassie is the Mother of William (Dick) White, 08/28/1869 to 06/07/1944, my grandfather.I have had no luck in finding out what Thomas family Isaiah belonged. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Wanda White Chason

    2. Hi Nancy, I think most all of us that are related to the Kirklands try to lay claim to being related to Richard Kirkland. There is a painting some where of him but can't remember just where it is, besides the one you spoke of. The Kirklands history, I believe really goes back to the Kirklands from Ireland and Scotland and if you trace back far enough we are all cousins. Some are better known than other, like my family. They are trying their best to stay hidden. Thanks for the info about Richard and if your pictures turn out OK, I sure would like to have a set. Just tell me what it will cost. 3. Good Evening, I hope no one minds that I am sending this post to both the Kirkland list and the Coffee Co. list; I know there are Kirkland researchers on the Coffee Co. list and that's why I wanted to include you as well. First of all, thank you Ida Kirkland Boyce (of the Kirkland@yahoo list) for sharing the information you had on Richard Rowland Kirkland. If anyone on the Coffee Co list wants Ida's info, just email me and I'll send it to you; it will have to be privately because it includes attachments. I admit that I was extremely intrigued when I saw the painting and the medal on display at the Capitol building here in Columbia. I don't know if this man fits into any of my Kirkland lines, but feel that he is a hero worth knowing of and reading about. If anyone goes to the Capitol building, the painting is located on the 'first' floor. If you stand in front of the Capitol building, go around to the left (not up all the stairs in the front) and you will enter through a door on the left side of the building. There are security men and a metal detector to pass through. Beyond this, there will be a hallway to the left; it's a beautiful marble hallway. The portrait and the metal are on the right side of the wall down this hallway. I went to familytreemaker. com and did a search on him. It came up with 419 'hits' but not all of them were actually on this particular man. I did another search and narrowed the field down a bit. If any of you are interested in learning more about this man, I've included the URL's at the end of this message. All the information so far shows his father to be John Kirkland and that he had three brothers including William and Samuel Kirkland. Richard Rowland Kirkland died in 1863 (age 23); his brother William died Oct 19, 1899 (age 59); Samuel died in the Spring of 1866. Maybe someone out there is looking for some of these folks and the web sights may help them to find answers :-) Regards, Nancy E Parr ------------------------------------------------------- http://members.aol.com/GreySky285/rebel.html http://members.aol.com/Stormy3789/MHs.html http://members.aol.com/GreySky285/kirkland.html http://members.aol.com/GreySky285/obits.html

    1. [GACOFFEE] Moody, Peacock, Smith and Hamilton Surname
    2. I am looking for info on a Florence Moody whom was married to a Jacob Hamilton, I presume around 1900-1905 more than likely in Coffee Co. - Douglas Georgia. Does anyone have access to any marriage records in Douglas or old city directories or Census records for Douglas around this time? Also, I am told that the Hamilton name in Douglas was related somehow to the surnames of Peacock and Smith if any one has these surnames that might give reference to any Hamilton's. Thank you for any help. Pam
