    3. Hey Guys, This one doesn't chronicle our line, but it does have some information on the relationship of Richard Snowden Kirkland to Moses (The Tory) Kirkland of SC. I hadn't seen this relationship established prior to seeing this site. There are an awful lot of Richards and Moses in this line. Maybe it's just one more bit of information which might help tie us in one day. http://www.next1000.com/family/EC/ecfamindex.1.html Either click on the Kirkland link or scroll down the page. Interestingly enough, I found a link to this site from the Henry Co., AL GenWeb site. Henry Co. is where our Asa Youngblood moved to when he left GA. Hmmmmmm........... Jeff

    1. Re: [GACOFFEE] Pickren error in Huxford
    2. Paula P. Smith
    3. Gail, My reference to error in Huxford pertained to the listing of Lucy Pickren to Huxford's section on the Elijah Pickren family and the John Pickren family. He lists a Lucy Pickren b. 1838 to Elijah Pickren who married Catherine Girtman (this Elijah is the son of the John Pickren family listed in POWG. This Elijah Pickren never had a dau. named Lucy at any time. So other researchers at later times when finding a Lucy Pickren who m. Moses J. Kirkland mistakenly assumed that this Lucy was the dau. of Elijah and Catherine (Girtman) Pickren. And so the erroneous "fact" kept spreading and spreading. I'll ask other Kirkland researchers to answer all the questions about the descendants of the Kirkland marriages. Paula

    3. According to Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia by Huxford Moses J. Kirkland born ca 1832, son of Moses Kirkland (b 1788) and Margaret Carver Thigpen(b 1807), married (1st) Lydia Tanner, daughter of B.H.Tanner and (2nd) Lucy Pickren, daughter of Elijah Pickren. Timothy Kirkland (son of Moses Kirkland and Margaret Carver Thigpen, uncle of Moses J.) born ca 1833, married Celia Lankford, daughter of Parish Lankford and had: 1. Moses born ca 1852 married (1st) Delilah Tanner, daughter of Green Tanner and (2nd) Lucy Pickren Tanner. 2. Cuyler born ca 1855 married Alice Kirkland 3. Mary Jane born ca 1858 married (1st) Daniel Lott; (2nd) Daniel Yeomans 4. Timothy born ca 1863 married Luraney Ricketson, February 5, 1882, daughter of Bryant Ricketson This is exactly as "Pioneers" has it spelled out. I don't know if there are errors! Cuyler (or Kiler as his will indicates) left Alice and his first set of children sometime before 1908 and either married or just lived with Lula Tuten. They proceeded to have four sons (and several stillbirths) between 1905(?) and 1918 at which time he died. June born ca 1908 Richard born ca 1914/15 Timothy J. born ca 1914/15 James C. My husband is descended from the above Timothy J. Kirkland. Kiler's will mentions his wife, Lula, and his four sons, June, Richard, James C. and Timothy J. Executor of the will is John Abraham Kirkland, his oldest son by his first marriage. I have several children for Moses J. Kirkland(son of Moses and Margaret Carver Thigpen) and Lydia Tanner: Moses J. Kirkland born ca 1857 Eliza Jane Kirkland born ca 1858 Zeanus W. Kirkland born ca 1861 Ann Eliza Kirkland born ca 1870 I have one child for Moses Kirkland (son of Timothy and Celia) and Delilah Tanner: Moses M. Kirkland born June 30, 1869 Timothy Kirkland born August 28, 1871 Leonard Kirkland born October 9, 1873 I have one child to Moses Kirkland (son of Timothy and Celia) and Lucy Pickren Tanner: Lemuel T. Kirkland born ca 1897 ?????????? These all may or may not be accurate! It is so confusing with all the Moses Kirklands. If anyone has any input please email to rootsweb. The 1860 Coffee County Census lists Celia Kirkland with the children Moses, Cuyler and Mary Jane. However Timothy had not been born yet. Where was Timothy, the father? He did not volunteer in the War until March 22, 1862. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nancy Parr" <nancparr@bellsouth.net> To: <GACOFFEE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 02, 2001 1:23 PM Subject: Re: [GACOFFEE] Pickren-Kirkland Marriage > Hi Paula and Jeff, > I'm REALLY confused now :-) I have several Moses J Kirklands in my > database; two of them I can't 'place' in the families. The only child I had for Timothy and Celia was a)Kyler/Kiler/Cuylar Kirkland, born abt 1855; married Alice Kirkland (daughter ofJoshua). I don't have another wife for Moses Kirkland (b 1788). 3. Joyce, I had Lucy Pickren (b. 1867 definitely because there is no evidence to support one born in 1838) was the second wife of Moses J. Kirkland ( b. abt. 1852 & married 14 July 1895 in Coffee Co., GA); his first wife was Delilah Tanner (b. abt 1853). Moses J. Kirkland was the son of Timothy Kirkland and his second wife Alice Celia Lankford. Timothy was b. abt. 1833 and was the son of Moses Kirkland (b. 1788) and his second wife Margaret Carver. I hope all these Kirklands and marriages are correct; if not let me know. I'm just definite about the Pickren info. Paula
