    3. Hope this helps. You might also check the 1900 & 1910 census for Coffee County. This shows they were in Coffee County at least by 1910. Catherine Genealogy---it's my business! Marriage, Birth & Divorce Notices from the Douglas Enterprise, Vol. 1, pg 15 by Catherine Fussell Wells July 11th 1908 Married. At the residence of the bride's mother, Mrs. A. Gaskin, at Gaskin Spring, on the afternoon of July 8th, Miss Lula May Gaskin and Mr. John Ivey were married. Rev. T. S. Hubert, Baptist pastor, officiating. The house was beautifully decorated, and the arch with wedding bell appendant attracted special attention. Miss McCormack, at the organ, rendered the wedding march with skill and sweetness, and the affairs passed off pleasantly, with many congratulations Marriage, Birth & Divorce Notices from the Douglas Enterprise, Vol. 1, pg 36, by Catherine Fussell Wells September 11, 1909 Ivey - Gaskin. It was a surprise to their nearest friends and even their families when Mr. Flanders Gaskin of Gaskin Spring and Mis Sallie Ivey, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Ivey returned from a drive to the Preacher's and announced that the ceremony had just been performed that made them man and wife. It was on last Wednesday, September the 1st. Congratulations of the cordial character were immediately extended. There was no objection to the marriage by either family. The young people simply preferred to have it this way. Last year Mr. John G. Ivey a brother of the bride, married Miss Lula May Gaskin, a sister of the groom. The congratulations of The Enterprise are as sincere as they are abundant. ----- Original Message ----- From: "southerngirl441 @hotmail.com" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, September 08, 2004 9:27 PM Subject: [GACOFFEE] Joe E. 3. Hope the following helps. Catherine Genealogy --- it's my business! Obituaries & Death Notices from the Douglas Enterprise, Vol.1, pg 119 by Catherine Fussell Wells. June 18, 1920 Mrs. John G. Ivey. The passing away of this gentle lady stirs many hearts to unusual depths of sorrow. Before marriage she was Lula May Gaskin, of Gaskin Spring, and was universally beloved for her charms of character and for her sweet and beautiful life. It lacks just three weeks of being two years since her marriage to John G. Ivey. A home of happy love had been set up and the future was as radiant as hope, under God, could make it. Then came this end after some weeks of typhoid fever, Thursday night about 10 o'clock. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. T. S. Hubert, pastor of the Baptist church, and the body laid away in its rest Friday 17th inst. The Enterprise joins a vast host of relatives and friends in bemoaning this death and extends its sympathies to one and all and especially the husband upon whom the blow falls heaviest. Obituaries & Death Notices from the Douglas Enterprise, Vol. 1, pg. 133, 134 October 1, 1910 Mrs. Joe E. Ivey Died Saturday Sept. 24th; Midnight. Here is the name of a woman that was never seen in the society notes of any newspaper. She belonged to no social club, she never read or cared for fashion journals, she seldom was on the streets and then always with such a quiet spirit as to attract the attention of none save those who had eyes to see something else than millinery and manufactured charms. She lived in a little home at the east end of Ward street. There she found in the love and care of home and its dear ones ample opportunity for exercise of all the gifts with which God had endowed her. Round about her were neighbors to whom her heart ran out in sympathy whether they rejoiced or whether they wept. Church obligations were sovereign in her life and she was in her place at the hour of worship. Oh, how she loved the service of song, the service of prayer, the ministrations of the Word! Her solicitude for sinners, her anxiety for them, found expression in both private and public prayer, private and public testimony. There never was a more modest woman; there never was a woman fuller of prophetic courage in her devotion to the Lord. Our of her humble and unassuming walk she radiated an influence that has no conceivable measurement, and laid up treasures in heaven that will survive the wreck of the worlds. I judged her the saintiest member of our church. In her death we have suffered the heaviest blow that has fallen upon us since my ministry at Douglas began. We bow to the will of God. We know where she is. "Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God." She sees him "face to face." Sister Ivey was a Carolinian. She and her husband moved to Douglas years ago. Here they have lived in marital unity and belicity of mind and heart. The children given them have moved into public esteem. It was indeed a happy home. It is not strange that the sense of loss and loneliness should be so grievous. God comforts and will comfort more and more. Sister Ivey was a member of the Baptist church. She knew and exemplified the great doctrines and principals which have distinguished Baptists from the days of John. Her pastor and other members had pride in her beautiful character and consistent life-and expect to meet her at the pearl-hung gate. T. S. Hubert. A Card of Thanks. It is impossible for me and my family to express to the good people of Douglas and vicinity, our feelings of appreciation on account of their sympathy and helpfulness through the time of trouble that has come to us. We could not forget it if we tried to. We would not if we could. It helps us to bear our bereavement with its encouragement of our faith in God and man. May the good Lord abundantly bless you, dear friends and help us all so to labor for Him as to enter into the rest which already is the eternal portion of my sainted wife. J. E. Ivey.

Mildred had a daughter named Mary Jane O'steen who married a James Vining abt. 1901. Chandler could have been their son, but there are no census records that show that. Chandler is also shown in 1930 living as a boarder in Waycross Georgia, Ware County with the family of Joseph and Mary James, working on farm. Georgia Death Records show Chandler died on Jan. 1, 1931 at 22 - 23 yrs of age. More research needed on his death, it was most untimely. Does anyone know who were Chandler Vinings parents and why was he adopted by Mildred. ? Please email me at [email protected] Thanks Kathy
