    3. Thanks, Lourice. Where is the "Corrections" to the cemetery book located? At the Satilla Reg Lib, of course! <grin> I wasn't aware of that. Now...... about the parents you gave for Lucille PHARIS, w/o Lewis SAPP. Was that J. B. PHARIS & Alzada C. Futrell? Just want to make sure I understood where one name began and where it ended. 3. Shirley..... I found a James Mack & Lizzie MERRITT listed in the 1920 Coffee Co census, Dist 748, No. Dixie Hwy. with sons: Elija, Marshall, Aubery, and Elmer. Is this the same family? There were no Annies in 1920 with them. I would love to have the listing for this family from the 1900 and 1910 census if you have them. Could you post the family? Many thanks. The only daughters I have on record are Sarah and Bettie b 1888 and 1894,both died as infants, buried at New Hope Cem. ----- Original Message ----- From: "shirley" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, September 26, 2004 2:59 PM Subject: Re: [GACOFFEE] Fw: Mrs. Annie M. 1. Re: [GACOFFEE] Lila B. Currie/Curry
    2. Hi: I don't know anything about the Lott or Currie families, but I do know that the adopted son, Evans Lott, that was mentioned in the obit was my maternal grandmother's youngest biological brother. I don't know if he ever had a real relationship with his biological family or not but he was one of a set of boy/girl twins born to Charles Gordon Rape and first wife Eva Jane Spinks Rape. They had five older children with my grandmother being the fourth, and then this set of twins. The baby girl twin and Eva Jane died shortly after the birth. Eva Jane and the baby girl are also buried at the Broxton Cemetery. Charles Gordon Rape later remarried in Coffee County to a lady by the name of Effie Johnson and they moved to Columbus, GA. Probably due to having a large family already and not having a wife for a while Charles Gordon Rape must have felt unable to care for a newborn so I guess the Lott family agreed to adopt him. I was always told his name "Evans" was in honor of his mother "Eva Jane". If anyone has any further information about Evans Lott (nee Rape) I would appreciate very much hearing from you. Thanks Lourice for posting this obituary. Lourice OBIT: Coffee County Progress ... Thursday, December 14, 1939 Mrs. J. E. Lott Dies After Long Illness Mrs. J. E. Lott highly esteemed and prominent in church and club affairs, died at her country home Sunday night after an extended illness of several years. Mrs. Lott was born in Washington county, she was Miss Lalla Currie before her marriage, and the daughter of the late Elaine Jones Currie and T. A. Currie. She moved with the family to Broxton in 1905. She taught in several schools in the county, later teaching in the Broxton school where she taught until her marriage to Jesse Lott in 1908. She was endowed with superior gifts and graces. Her qualities of mind and heart fitted her for the many phases of life in which she entered. She is gone from this changing abode but her fruitful, fragrant influence is an ever-blooming, never dying flower, and only time and eternity can measure the fullness of the power she weilded in the hearts and lives of all with whom she came in contact. Frail beyond her years, for the past two years, it was significant that her outlook was always cheerful, always buoyant, and always helpful. It was marvelous how she managed it. The answer must be found in her indomitable courage, her steadfast determination, and her unfaltering faith in God. She was ever unafraid, and undismayed. She was a member of the Broxton Methodist Church, a member of the Woman's Club and a member of the State Woman's Christain Temperance Union. The Rev./ S. J. Brown, pastor of the Broxton Methodist church, and the Rev. I. K. Chambers, pastor of the West Green Methodist church read the funeral rites which took place in the Methodist church. The rare and exquisite floral offerings marked the expressions of affection held by many friends. The pall bearers were Jesse Newman, J. G. Traynham, S. C. Rogers, T. J. Smith, M. A,. Denton, and L. L. Denton. Besides her husband, she is survived by an adopted son, Evans Lott, his wife and four children, one sister, Miss Myrtie Mae Currie, a brother, Fletcher Currie, of Greenwood, S. C., and an only aunt, Miss Sallie Jones. She was buried in the Broxton cemetery with Tanner-Poindexter in charge of the funeral arrangements.
