Say Billy, you did not give your ancestors last name or did I miss something? I too am trying to define why my ancestors came to Texas from GA. Mine were born in NC and moved to GA for some reason in 1860, fought the civil war and then left for Texas. They landed in a place called Goliad which is down the coast from Galveston. I have asked lots of people about the whys and seems most of them were trying to find land, etc. I understand that parts of East Texas look like GA and that is why they landed there.
