My GGG Grandfather and mother, William P. & Virginia were listed in the 1850 census in the California District of Cobb county, Georgia, They had 6 sons born in Georgia. Virginia was born in Georgia according to the census. From what I could tell he was a merchant with real estate valued at 4000 dollars, He must have been fairly successful. But for some reason they loaded up and came to Texas between 1850 and 1860. Was there a natural or economic disaster that would of caused him to leave Georgia. Would love to know something more on this family. Any help would be greatly appreciated. William according to the census was born in South Carolina. Billy Prichard Hobbs,NM
