Barker, born between 1837 - 1841 in Cobb County. His father b SC and mother b in NC. (This info from 1880 census of GA) Do not know either of their names. Stokes G. Barker married Martha A. Westbrook in Cobb County, GA around April 1855. They had six children: James Alonzo Barker b about 1856, Mary Barker b about 1857 d during the Civil War period about 1864, George W. Barker, b about 1860 also died during the Civil War period in Cobb County, GA, Samuel N. Barker listed in the 1880 census as being 18 years old. He went to Kalamazoo, MI - no further information, William A. Barker also listed in the 1880 census as being 14 years of age, and John Thomas Barker (my grandfather) also listed in the 1880 census as being 3 years old. Martha A. Westbrook was born in Cobb County about 1840 and d in 1928. Stokes G. Barker died about 1898 in Cobb County. John Thomas Barker (my grandfather) died April 11, 1946 in Marietta and is buried in a cemetary off the old Atlanta Highway (Sorry I don't know the name) with Kate Lemon. Stokes G. Barker is buried (I think) at Bethal Babtist Church in Cobb County. Stokes served in the Civil War in Company A 1st Battalion Confederate Infantry (Forney's Regiment, Confederate Infantry). His Rank was Private. According to family stories he was shot in the foot and was tended by Martha A. Westbrook to the point that the Union soldiers thought she was a spy and went to their house and with the family watching, ripped up and destroyed all of their belonging and burned her house to the ground. John Thomas Barker (my grandfather) lived in Cobb County, GA and married a Texie (Texcanna) Noles (Knowles?). They had four children, Lucille, Annie Mae, Elizabeth, and John Thomas Barker, Jr. John Thomas Barker, Sr. eventually remarried Katie Lemon and lived in Cobb County. Any information on parents, dates, births, buriels etc. would be appreciated. I live in California and it is difficult to depend strictly on the internet or Family Tree History disks.
