This is also my gg-grandfather. It is interesting how misconceptions have arisen over the years regarding this grave and who is buried there. Cousin, Stella Daniell Boynton (1897-1993) was his g-grandaughter and seemed to champion the cause of "setting the record straight" regarding her ancestor when suppositions began to arise regarding the grave. She and her family have cared for the gravesite for many years. Stella lived nearby at Floyd Station. Of course between being located in the edge of a woods thicket and respect for the owner of the land that it is located upon, cleanup activities have always been limited to the grave itself. The marker is inscribed and still very readable when I was there about a year ago. I did notice that the edge of the bank by the roadway seems to be much closer to the grave than it had been. The old cedar trees planted near the grave were still there. Buried here is Needham Edward Rogers, born Sep 03, 1796 in Manchester, Sydney Province, Nova Scotia, Canada. He arrived in Newton Co, GA from NC about 1820 with his first wife, Sarah Winslow Cooke. 10 children are known to have lived to adulthood from this union. Sarah died about 1837 in Newton Co and Needham remarried to Susan Daniell, daughter of Stephen Daniell and Elizabeth "Betsy" Melton. Another 4 children were born through that union. By 1850, Stephen Daniell's wife, Betsy had died and Stephen had remarried to Louisa A. Rogers. In that same year, Stephen and Louisa moved to Cobb Co, settling on Clay Road near the present site of South Cobb High. Needham Rogers followed shortly thereafter. Needham Rogers died on Mar 18, 1871 at his home in Cobb Co and was buried on his farm. The epitath on the grave marker reads: Remember man as you pass by As you are now so once was I As I am now so you must be Prepare for death and follow me Descendants through the Daniell side of this family still reside in the surrounding area.
