In the bottom of the box were two Memoriam Records, one, for a Nora Castlen Meier, who died July 21, 1959 and the second, for her husband, Geo. Henry Meier, Sr., who died October 20, 1960. Apparently, the music belonged to their son, George H. Meier. One of the daughters of the deceased couple was a Mrs. Stallings, who may have remarried. Most significant was the fact that a 15-page essay of family memories was also in the box. This text was very fragile and had the words, "This came from Uncle Hal." (recipes, etc.) If anyone is interested in these pieces of memorabilia, my daughter and my granddaughter would be most grateful if you would call them. They will make sure you get the items free of charge. This was a good experience for my 9-year old granddaughter who is absolutely mystified that she could touch something so old and that someone would have thrown it away........maybe she'll be the one in my family to become interested in genealogy.
