Gladys, In 1850, 1860, and 1870, this family is listed as white. In 1850 they were enumerated as Scroggins, in 1860 as Scoggins and in 1870 as Strogging. Cemetery markers indicate that the spelling was SCROGGINS. My copy of the 1860 Cobb County census enumeration for this family is practically unreadable. The best I can do is: 1860 Cobb County, Georgia - Coxes District - PO Marietta - August ??, 1860 - page 484 1862 - J. F. "Descendant Clark Howell Hogan indicated that this cemetery was established in 1860 with the death of Isaac Howell, who fell dead, according to family legend, 'cussing Abraham Lincoln, having said that he would rather die than see Abe president'. As time passed, the Howell Cemetery grew around his grave. Isaac had selected the spot for the cemetery as a resting place for his descendants. Today (surveyed in 1982) this cemetery is in an industrial area." 27761 - 1 marked grave; no inscription 27762 - Howell, Baby - August 13, 1884 - December 16, 1884 - son of JM and HC Howell 27763 - Howell, W.
