This cemetery is located on Shallowforks Road about 10 miles from Marietta. There seem to be many Davis family members buried there -- but at one time this was a church. Evidently this church building was there until the '20s but no longer exists. Does anyone know about the church, and where it may have relocated to? Besides Davis, there are also Hartsfield and Stephens buried there. It would be nice to get more information about all of them -- and also the church. Virginia Crilley

    3. Virginia, I have this on the cemetery that Linda Murray sent me. Meredith, I don't see anything for Old Pleasant Grove in the most recent cemetery books. Davis Family Cemetery Located in Land Lot 459, District 16, on Davis Road, approximately one mile from Sandy Plains Road. The older section of the cemetery is covered in trees and undergrowth. There are numerous graves marked with rocks. (Surveyed March 1982) The above cemetery contains the same burials as the cemetery listed in The First Hundred Years as "Old Pleasant Grove or Davis Cemetery". Naaman Hardman is not listed in the newer Cobb cemetery books, but his marker may have been missed in the 1982 survey. I'm sure it was there in the pre-1935 survey as it's included in Sarah B. Gober Temple's First Hundred Years. Because it's described as being on Davis Road, you should have no problem finding it. 2. I don't remember the name of the church, but if it was Baptist, microfilm of the church minutes should be in the library at Mercer University. They used to have a program wherein they would loan tapes to local libraries.
