Have you tried http://www.findagrave.com/ I looked and there is a Wm. Wells buried in Marietta National Cemetery: Wells, Wm b. unknown d. Aug. 12, 1864 Marietta National Cemeter... Marietta Cobb County Georgia, USA I just received the probate records for William Swan Wells "W.S." and it indicated that all the land he owned was in Acworth (including plots with 130 acres, some with houses) except for one plot in Cherokee County. Since the 'family tale' is that he was murdered by released POW at the end of the Civil War, I am assuming he would have been buried close. He was supposed to be working on the barn when he was killed. I am not positive, but his son Charles was also died in 1865 ... so he may have been with him. I need help checking out cemeteries in the Acworth area that were active in 1865. I saw the cemetery books on the Cobb Co. Genealogical Society but they do not indicate where the cemeteries are located ... and the page I looked at did not even mention Acworth. I lived near Sprayberry High School in 1970s and early 1980s ... worked for GA Power and graduated from GA State Univ. If I had only known this then ... :o) Never fails. Is there anyone who would take pity on me and help me find a tombstone transcriptions? Bonita Hillmer Phoenix AZ \\\|/// \\ ~ ~ // ( @ @ ) ----oOOo-(_)-oOOo---- Just Looking ...
