In the 1860 Cobb County Census of George Abner Power and Wife Winifred Power and family, there's a P. D. Wheelan shown in the household 30 years of age, a teacher and born in Ireland. I know my Power family originated from Donegal, Ireland and heavy on education. Does anyone have any info on him as far as who he is - maybe just a teacher boarding with them. Any help would be appreciated on this and any other Power in Cobb or surrounding counties. Carolyn Power Flowers
Carolyn, Yes, Peter Wheelan was a local teacher/headmaster who for many years taught school in various Cobb locations and eventually died in Savannah, Georgia. Sorry to say, however, I don't know of any Power/Wheelan relationship. Good luck!
