Carolyn, Yes, Peter Wheelan was a local teacher/headmaster who for many years taught school in various Cobb locations and eventually died in Savannah, Georgia. Sorry to say, however, I don't know of any Power/Wheelan relationship. Good luck! I know my Power family originated from Donegal, Ireland and heavy on education. Does anyone have any info on him as far as who he is - maybe just a teacher boarding with them. Any help would be appreciated on this and any other Power in Cobb or surrounding counties. Carolyn Power Flowers

Christine, I don't find them listed in the Cobb County Marriage Index, nor in the Cobb County Cemeteries books. I also don't find them indexed in early Cobb County census. When did they live here? Where do you find them enumerated in the 1880 census? That one is free and online at the LDS website: http://www.familysearch.org Sorry not to be able to help. On page 61 of this book the Bible of Asa Darby [born 1756 in MD - died 1833 in SC] is abstracted. The last line in this abstract is: "This old Bible data was owned in 1900 by Mr. Aden Darby of Cobb County, Ga." It is not clear from this whether Mr. Aden owned the actual Bible or just the data. The house was tastefully decorated with palms and ivy, while the improvised altar was lighted by seven branch candlesticks. The bride, dressed in organdie and satin, carrying a shower bouquet, was especially beautiful. The maid of Honor was Miss Maud Stillwell. Little Miss Julia Wells made a lovely little flower girl. Dr. and Mrs. Durham left immediately after the ceremony for Borden Wheeler Springs, where they will spend several days. They will be at home to their friends at Acworth, Ga.
