    1. Re: [GACOBB] GA DEATH Index and/or Cobb Co Cemetery Book for Collum
    2. Linda Murray
    3. Year of death as 1979 is likely a typo. The Georgia Death Index gives - John C. Collum, died in Cobb County, GA, at age 73 years, on September 23, 1949. His death certificate should tell you where he was buried, and the certificate number to use when ordering is #18786. He is not listed in the Cobb County, Georgia, Cemetery books as buried in a marked grave in Cobb. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hc.2ADE/734.1 Message Board Post: Your direct e-mail address didn't work, so here's what I sent you: Mary, Miller is a common name, so this might not get you anywhere, but it might give you some more places to look. I have a Jesse Miller and wife Patsy Harrison in my family line who lived in the Pendleton District of South Carolina in the late 1700s and early 1800s. They had a number of children that I haven't attempted to trace. I was only interested in their daughter, Susannah Miller (1788-June 30, 1824). She married William McCollum in 1810 and they removed to Habersham County, Georgia in 1823, where Susannah died in 1824. William and his second wife removed to Walton County, Georgia about 1830-1835. Jesse Miller left a will as follows. Since Susannah was the third daughter, it is quite possible that one of her older brothers was your Ann's husband. I would look for Miller's in Habersham County in 1830 and see if they had children who are in the right age range to be Hugh and Dinah. Will Extract: Jesse Miller. Wife: Patsy Miller. Sons: Archibald Miller, William Miller, George Miller, Emerson Miller, Howell Miller, James Miller. Daughters: Sarah Bruce, Amy Young, Susanna McCollum, Rebecca Tatum, Peggy Perts, Mary Miller. Land: "Lying on the south side of Wolf Creek." "My five other sons: William, George, Emerson, Howell and James." (Same as above). "My six daughters." (Same as above). Exors: "my friend William McCollum" and Patsy Miller. Wits: William Miller, William McCollum, William Tatum. Rebecca Tatum. Date: 3 March 1819. Probate: 17 April 1819. Bk. A p. 237, Roll 444. Anderson Co, SC. Actual Will: Will, Book A. Page 237. Probate Judge Office. Anderson, SC. I Jesse MILLER of Pendleton Dist. being very sick and weak of body, but in perfect mind and memory... After paying all my just debts, I give to my beloved wife Patsy MILLER during her natural life or widowhood. At her death I give all my land on South Side of Wolf Creek to my son Archibald MILLER to have said land in fee simple forever. All my land on North side of said creek to be sold and the profit equally divided among my five other sons, William MILLER, George MILLER, Emson (Emerson?) MILLER, Howel(l?) MILLER and James MILLER...My household property to my six beloved dtrs. Sara BRUCE, Amy YOUNG, Susannah MCCOLM (McCOLLUM?), Rebeccah TATUM, Peggy PERTS, and Mary MILLER. I appoint my friend William MCCOLM (McCOLLUM?) and Patsy MILLER my executor and executrix. Dated this 17 April 1819. Wit: William MILLER, William MCCOLLUM, William X TATUM, and Rebacah X TATUS (TATUM?). Signed Jesse MILLER. Proved & recorded 3 March 1819, by John HARRIS Ord. Pend. Dist. (Date of will or the recording date may be reversed.) (This will was copied without spelling or punctuation corrections.) I hope this helps. Wally McCollum
