    3. I have been a very long time trying to locate my husband's ggg grandparents in Georgia prior to their arrival in Jackson County, Florida between 1851 and 1854. Recently, I have located what I believe to be a record of their marriage: William Matthus Molsa Miller 16 December 1838 Harris, Georgia As I have found a Harris Woods in Cobb County and a Harris City in Meriwether, I am uncertain which county I should now focus my attention on. Would some kind soul be willing to check both the 1840 and 1850 (if available) census for Cobb County and inform me if this family appears? 2. Cory Bowen
    3. I am researching an individual by the name of Andrew Jackson Bowen Sr. He was born about 1819 somewhere in Georgia. Location at this point is unknown. He has turned up in the Eastern Alabama area as well as Carroll County and Haralson County Georgia. He married a Mary Lee Hays in June of 1853 in Carroll County Georgia. He had two children with him before this marriage, which may lead me to believe that he may have been married once before Mary. The Children that were living with him and Mary at the 1860 Census of Carroll County were as follows: James Bowen born about 1846 in Alabama; Lucinda Bowen born about 1848 in Alabama also; Christian C. Bowen born about 1854 in Georgia; John Lunsford Bowen born Sept. 27, 1855 in Georgia, died June 29, 1917 in Anniston, Alabama; Nancy Bowen born about 1859; and Andrew Jackson Bowen Jr. born March 30, 1860 in Carroll County, Georgia, died July 17, 1945 in Cedartown, Georgia. Andrew Jackson Bowen Sr. enlisted in the 35th Regiment, Company "A" of the Haralson County Guards of the Northern Virginia Army C.S.A. on August 15, 1861. He died in battle on July 12, 1865 in Richmond, Virginia. He is buried at the Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia. I do not have any additional information other than what I have listed here. If anyone has any additional information please advise of such information. Thank you, Cory Bowen.

Mayfield and his wife Lucretia lived in Cobb Co before the Civil War.The people who have done lookups for me tell me there is nothing there for those years and the library in Atlanta was burned by invaders during the war. I hope you have better luck than I did. I really want their marriage license and I was told death records are a good way to find more info. Again good luck, Colleen

    2. Colleen Musulin
    3. Hi Cobb Co.: I would appreciate a look up on my ggg Grandfather's death record. I really want his marriage record and do not have his wife's surname, I was recently told that sometimes the death record will have info such as wife's surname. They lived in Cobb Co. They were on the 1850 census there along with many children. Their first children (twins) were 16 on the 1850 census. I assume the wedding would have been at least 16 years earlier, which would be about 1834 if I counted correctly. In 1830 it appears Giles F. Mayfield is still living with his father, Battle Mayfield (b 1778). There were no names of children at that time. The look up I need is for: GILES F. MAYFIELD and his wife LUCRETIA. On the 1860 GA census Giles is living in Melton Co. GA and has a wife named Christina and some of his children that were on the 1850 census and one new child. I assume Lucretia has passed on or was divorced which I believe may have been uncommon at that time. Any help you can provide on my acestors will be appreciated. Thank you very much, Colleen M usulin [email protected]

    1. Cobb Co. Marriage
    2. Hello, I am trying to find a marriage record for my Great-grandmother Sarah Frances Riddlespurger. The Riddlespurgers lived in Polk Co. Ga. but it is believed that my great-grandmother's father sent her away to school to get her away from a young man she wished to marry. She may have been sent to a school in Marietta where she would have run away with this young man. I know this sounds confusing and I apologize. The information we have is as follows: Sarah Frances Riddlespurger(spelling sometimes was Riddlesperger) married a Mr. Cohen(other possible spellings Cohn, Coen) between 1870-1873. Unfortuantely we have no first name for Cohen. Thank You, Ann Schultz

    1. Re: Davis info
    2. The best bet on newspapers is to call the Atlanta Constitution..........and see how far back they go........they you go to the library and check out on microfilm any and all papers for that time frame starting with about ten years previous, you may find a marriage anouncement that way. Something like this if true, would be head line news, also check out all the obits, maybe the Cobb Co Genealogical Society has records of all the obits starting at a certain time say maybe the late 1800's, it would depend on the society and if they have volunteers who keep track of all the obits in all the newspapers. Good Luck Renee

    3. A friend of mine in Stilwell,Ok asked me to find what I can on her dads' side of the family. The name she gave me was her grmothers' name, Mary Jane DAVIS, m.John Thomas WALKER, She was b. in Marietta before 1900, the actual time she has is 1890-1900. The story is that when she was 4 yrs old(1900?), her father killed her mother with an axe.The mothers' name was Mary, the dads' was Jacob Davis. There was also a son, David Davis. The two children were separated by the courts and never met again. I did not find this family on the Cobb 1900 census. Does this sound familiar to you? Can someone suggest what newspaper to look for in this time frame? Regards, Pat Koger
