    1. NORTON
    2. Scott Fosse
    3. I am researching the NORTON surname. My line begins with Rev. Miles D. Norton, b. 1820 in GA. He married Rachel (Williams?) and they moved from Cobb Co. to Paulding Co. by 1860. I am trying to find out who the parents and siblings of Miles D. are (possibly Miles V. Norton was his father?). Any information or lookups would be greatly appreciated. Patty Fosse

    2. Hi Colleen: Your name is unusual and I did a search for Battle MAYFIELD at ancestry.com to see if they had anything listed. This is what was posted: Marriages--Georgia to 1850 Georgia Jackson County Mayfield, Battle married Snow, Abea on 30 Nov 1813 in Jackson County, Georgia I hope this is helpful. I believe that is where I will find some important look up info that i really need on the Mayfield family. My gggg grandfather, Battle Mayfield lived in the Cobb Co. area a great deal of his life. 3. I'm looking for any information on Thomas RHOADES b. about 1812 in GA (according to census & his son, Jesse) In 1837 he married Ann LINDLEY (b. about 1821). On the 1840 Walton County, GA census they had a daughter, Lella (b. about 1839). They lived in Lindley's District of Walton County, according to that same 1840 census. I was told that Thomas had married Martha LINDSEY, & that is what is on Thomas' son's, Jesse, pension application as being Jesse's parents. Jesse was their youngest child. The only marriage I've found,so far, for Thomas, is to Ann LINDLEY. On the 1850 Walton County census, I've found Thomas (1813-GA), Martha (1815-GA), Lella (1839-GA), James (1841-GA), Martha (1843-GA), William J. (1845-GA), Sarah (1846-GA), & Jesse T. (1849-GA). On the 1860 census, they have moved to Cobb County, GA, & there's not a Martha (1815-GA) or Lella listed. I feel certain that Lella had married, & Martha had probably died?. 1870 census shows Thomas living with Martha, John(1864-GA), & Nancy????(1867-GA) in Paulding Co., & 1880 census (Cherokee Coounty) has Thomas, Martha, John, Delilah (1867-GA), Green (1871-GA), & Samuel (1872 or 1877-GA). Martha is 34 years younger than Thomas, but she's listed as his wife. What does everybody think about all this? Bettie <><
