    1. Hardman marriages
    2. Alfred Ellis
    3. I am searching for information on the following people who lived and married in Cobb County, Ga: Andrew P. Neese who married Almeda Hardman Augusta "Gus" Dickerson who married Martha A. Hardman Seaborne Thomas "Tom" Ramsay who married Elijah Jane Hardman It is known that Andrew Neese and Tom Ramsay went to Texas after the Civil War. It is not known what happened to August Dikerson. Almeda, Martha, and Elijah Jane were daughter of the Dekalb County, Ga. pioneer, Naman Hardman. Naman died in 1870 and is buried in the Davis Cemetery between Marietta and Decatur in Cobb County, Ga. It is believed that Naman was buried on land that he had owned before his death. At some point the cemetery was named "Davis" cemetery since most of the burials there have this surname.

    1. Mrs. Betty Pope, Kennesaw, Georgia
    2. Alfred Ellis
    3. Does anyone know of the lady listed below, or perhaps any of her descendants. I have just recently found out that she had several letter copied at the Georgia Archives in 1979. I am dealing with a 20 year old trail here, and just hoping that someone might know her or maybe one of her descendants. The letters that were said to be in her possession are those that were written to my greatgrandfather, Francis Marion Hardman, around the time of the Civil War. I have no idea how she came into possession of these letters. Also, I am hoping that there might be some photographs in the collection. Mrs Betty Pope, 1631 Timber Lane, Kennesaw, Ga 30144. She provided the originals to be microfilmed in 1979 for the Georgia State Archives Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated, Alfred C. Ellis Auburn, Alabama

    3. I don't know what it is. There is a genealogical book with words/vocabulary that one encounters when doing this kind of research. I can't remember the name of it, unfortunalely. It is in many libraries in their genealogical research section. Barring the find of it in there, or someone else knowing its meaning, I would check the paper to see if there was an actual hanging of someone with that name. I hope you will let us know what you find out. It is an intriguing statemtent. 3. Judith, This is them!!! I am tickled to death. I knew they were in Cobb Co. just was not sure exactly where. I have copies that my grandmother in law copied from the family Rayley Bible. She has Alzheimers and I was going through all the tons of stuff she has and ran across "true" copies. I have a question---one of the birth entries stated "Covin" as a place of birth. Is there anywhere near Kennesaw? Also, she kept tons of journals since she learned to write and many times it mentions taking her mother to visit family in "Covin"---I am confused as to where this is or if it might be an abbreviation. Thanks for all you have done and if you know about Covin that will be just absolutely wonderful too! Thanks so much!!! Debbie [email protected]

    1. Early Cobb County Legislator
    2. Hi, Listers - I'm looking to confirm or refute information received from a family member. I've been told that Joseph Morris was elected to the legislature from Cobb County in 1840. I don't know whether this was the Georgia state legislature or the US Congress, though I think probably the former. I know that Joseph's grandson, Oliver T. Morris, served in the state legislature late in the 19th century. Can anyone out there help? Thank you. Lowell in Alabama
