Do you have a marriage date for William Wright and Elizabeth McGuire? Are their McGuire's in the cemetery books born during 1800's? There were several McGuire and Wright families on 1850 Cobb Census, haven't connected Wm. & Elizabeth to a family as yet. Elizabeth & children lived in Big Shanty district. William deceased by 1850. How long did Orruon Mathis live in Cobb County GA? Are there tax records for him in Cobb County? I think Orruon MATHIS died in Cobb County, GA in the late 1860's. Is there a WILL or Probated Estate?
Hi, Rhonda I tried to respond to the surname you had put on the Cobb County Georgia Genweb page and my message was returned. I don't know how else to get in touch with you, so I thought I would try the mailing list. I was wanting to know what ADAMS you are researching. I will look forward to hearing from you. We have a Riley Medley married to a Mary ? with the following children on the 1850 census in Cobb County. Mary is there but Riley is not: 312 312 Mary Midlan 38 F SC Joel E. 18 M John 22 M Susan 21 F George 17 M Sarah Allgood 16 F Nathan Allgood 26 M Nancy Midlan 16 F John 13 M James Cox 8 M Mary Ann 12 F Elizabeth 11 F Catharine 9 F Ellen 6 F Don't know if James Cox is a Midlan/Medley or not, neither Mary Ann, Elizabeth, Catharine nor Ellen. The copy of the 1850 Cobb County census was very difficult to read. If someone in Cobb County would verify what we have written, or clarify for us, we certainly would appreciate it. Sarah was a Medley because she is taking care of her mother Mary in 1870 and Joel is taking care of Mary in 1880. Catharine is living with Joel's family in 1880. Hope you can shed some light on this Medley family for us. We do know that we have found Meadling/Midlan/Medlin/Medley/Meddlin all the same family. We found Riley M. in the Cobb County Census in 1840. He bought land in 1849 in Cobb County, can't locate him in 1850 but we know that Joel is a g-g-grandfather. We found a Riley M. married to a Mary in Troup County, Ga about 1830. Hope you or someone can assist us. ----- Original Message ----- From: Tonya Freeman <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, September 18, 1999 9:07 PM Subject: Medlin > Hi ! I wrote a letter which I shared with Joe in which I told him that we wanted to honor him on our special 21st anniversary. He will be 93 Sept 25. I did tell them that we could supply transportation both ways. (We might better find someone who can bless the loaves and fishes for our reception when folks find out Mr. Garrett will be there!!!) Bad news - I had to have replacement quarterlies of 6 issues to complete the binding project......... Cox Printing shorted us big time but after 3 days of 6 hrs each, I have them ready to go to Bindery. We will just have to pay the expense so that we can generate fund from the quarterlies which we had already. If you disagree, it is too late. I just had to get it over with as my house was covered with 35 x 16 issues, etc. I will notify Ken Thomas to tell about our anniversary plans and honoring Mr. Garrett......... I have just finished transcribing the "Hardman Letters" that were just recently discovered on microfilm at the Georgia Archives. These were correspondences between Francis Marion Hardman and his family in Cobb and Paulding Counties, Ga. A listing is gives below of the names that were mentioned in the letters. Many of these people were most likely from Cobb County, Ga. Does anyone recognize any of these names? Augustus Dickerson Andrew Neese Seaborne T. "Tom" Ramsay John Akin(s) Jack Groover Jim McClusky Gukes(?) Artema ? Harvey McKee Robert Wood Malichi "Mally" Pitts (relative of Joseph P. Pitts) William and Caley Smith T.S. Paden(Atlanta?) Miles Murdock Mr. Ragen(Paulding County) Hardman Family Civil War Letters and Papers, 1859-1867 and undated. Original loose papers, 14 items, 14 pieces. Copies of these Letters and Papers are on file at the Georgia Archives in Atlanta, Georgia: microfilm roll #10 in drawer 270. The original documents were microfilmed on October 1, 1979. At this time the originals were in the possession of: Mrs. Betty Pope 1631 Timber Lane Kennesaw, GA 30144 Mrs. Pope died September or 1986 in Kennesaw, Georgia. It would be very helpful to know who received the original papers and letters that were in her possession. The letters have been transcribed from microfilm copies and many parts cannot be deciphered. It possibly would be helpful to view the original letters if they are available. Also, reference is made to a photograph of Francis Marion Hardman. This photograph could possibly be in the collection. Francis Marion is my g-greatgrandfather and no one that I know has a photograph of him. There letters were most likely passed down thru the descendants of Thomas Camp who married Francis Marion's widow after his death in the Civil War. Alfred C. Ellis
Do you know to what Civil War regiment Francis Marion Hardman belonged? Some of the names look like they could be misspellings of men in the Phillips Legion (Andrew Reese vs. Andrew Neese; Jim McCleskey vs. Jim McClusky). In addition a Parkes Hardman had either a professional or personal relationship with my ancestors - Malachi, Leroy, and Mark Reeves (Mark was also a member of the Phillips Legion). Parkes Hardman and my ancestors were from the Cobb and Paulding area as well. Good morning, volunteers - I am in desperate need of a lookup in the 1860 Federal Census, Cobb County, GA on page 484, Marietta P.O. for J. E. Gober - Need his entire family. Know the 1860 film (at least the one I looked at many years ago) is very hard to read. An e-mail answer would be wonderful. I am more than willing to pay for this service if someone of you would be kind enough to help. I am trying to get the Gober book to the printer/binder by the end of this month. My Bullard is Daniel, born Mar 1853 in GA and married Martha (Matt) F. LEE 30 Jan 1873 in Cobb Co., GA. I don't know who Daniel's parents were. I haven't found him yet in the 1860 or 1870 census. I've been focusing my research on his wife Martha, who was the daughter of Nathan LEE, my gggrandfather. In 1880, Daniel & Martha were in Carroll Co., GA. They moved to Blount Co., AL, sometime between 1895 and 1900 as their last child was born in 1895 in GA. In the 1900 and 1910 Census, they're in Blount Co., Blountsville Precinct #5. Martha is found in the 1920 Census still in the same district and county, but now is a widow. Daniel died 30 Apr 1912 and Martha died 4 Mar 1943. Both are buried in Austin Creek Cemetery, Blount County. The following is a list of their children that I obtained from the census records. Sallie, b 1874 Thomas, b May 1876 Abbie, b Apr 1879 Claude, b Apr 1882 Georgia, b Sep 1884 Arthur, b Apr 1887 d 21 May 1931 Feriby?, b Jun 1888 Pearl, b Sep 1890 Wesley, b Dec 1892 Della, b Jun 1895 I have some names of fellow Bullard researchers who have been seeking other Bullard connections.
