Hi, I had requested a look-up a few weeks back, thanks to all who responded. Now, my Dr. Ellie M. HUNT was buried with a Kattie May Duncan. Could someone do a lookup in Cobb on a hunch they were married there? Ellie's death certificate showed he had lived at Austell for only 14 months, however another responder stated he served on the city council. Incidentally , Dr. Ellie was a dentist. Also, if the Marietta paper carried his death notice, did it list any children? Thanks to any who would help. Anne
Is anyone researching the Ruff family of Cobb County. Two are buried in the Smyrna City Cemetery (M.V. Ruff and wife). I am doing research on all the Ruff's in GA from 1800-1900-- I believe they all hail from the same family line in Elbert County GA c1805. Would appreciate any family information to help connect the line-- have info to share on Shadrack (Shaderick) Ruff, married c1822 Elbert Co GA, who appears to be the progenitor of many of the later Ruff's I'm finding in GA. Say Billy, you did not give your ancestors last name or did I miss something? I too am trying to define why my ancestors came to Texas from GA. Mine were born in NC and moved to GA for some reason in 1860, fought the civil war and then left for Texas. They landed in a place called Goliad which is down the coast from Galveston. I have asked lots of people about the whys and seems most of them were trying to find land, etc. I understand that parts of East Texas look like GA and that is why they landed there. Don't know much more than that but let me know what else you might find as I also am looking. Sue Knudsen, looking for Rains, Medlin, Walker, Clevenger
My GGG Grandfather and mother, William P. & Virginia were listed in the 1850 census in the California District of Cobb county, Georgia, They had 6 sons born in Georgia. Virginia was born in Georgia according to the census. From what I could tell he was a merchant with real estate valued at 4000 dollars, He must have been fairly successful. But for some reason they loaded up and came to Texas between 1850 and 1860. Was there a natural or economic disaster that would of caused him to leave Georgia. Would love to know something more on this family. Any help would be greatly appreciated. William according to the census was born in South Carolina. Billy Prichard Hobbs,NM
Sue, is this who you're looking for? I have a Daniel Bullard b Mar 1853 in GA and married Martha (Matt) F. LEE 30 Jan 1873 in Cobb Co., GA. (Martha is the daughter of my gg grandfather Nathan LEE.) In 1880, they were in Carroll Co., GA. I believe they moved to Blount Co., AL, sometime between 1895 and 1900 as their last child was born in 1895 in GA. In the 1900 and 1910 Censuses, they're in Blount Co., Blountsville Precinct #5. Martha is found in the 1920 Census still in the same district and county, but now is a widow. Daniel died 30 Apr 1912 and Martha died 4 Mar 1943. Both are buried in Austin Creek Cemetery, Blount County. The following is a list of their children that I obtained from the census records. Sallie, b 1874 Thomas, b May 1876 Abbie, b Apr 1879 Claude, b Apr 1882 Georgia, b Sep 1884 Arthur, b Apr 1887 d 21 May 1931 Feriby?, b Jun 1888 Pearl, b Sep 1890 Wesley, b Dec 1892 Della, b Jun 1895 At this date, I don't know who Daniel's parents were. Hello........ I am seeking any information on the family of Dilmus Lyle and Martha Jackson who were married about 1847, believed to be in Austell. The child of most interest is John Telrod Lyle who was born ca. 1848. Anything on John Telrod Lyle also is of the most interest. Belief is that John also had a son, born in 1870, named John Telrod also and he came west through Kansas and settled in Utah ca 1900!! Thanks Bob Garvey [email protected]

Hi all! I have many Cobb CO families represented on my Denton Family website. I've recently updated the on-line database, too, and there are several thousand of the Denton and related members. I also have some of my gedcom files available at the site for download with surnames: Hunt, Cooper, Huff, Smith, Reneau, Chastain, Baker, Montgomery, Plumlee, O'Dell, Moore, French, Shipman and Huff. If you should find a connection, or possible connection, I'd be delighted to share any information I have. Blessings! Sue Montgomery-Cook http://www.acun.com/dentons

I have just recently found my GGG Grandfather and Grandmother in the Cobb County 1850 census. They were William P. and Virginia Prichard. The 1850 census list his occupation as merchant. Sometime between 1850 and 1860 they came to Texas. They were in the Oregon district during the census. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Billy Prichard
