    1. Kay family in Cobb Co.
    2. I don't remember if I have written this list before regarding my Kay family or not but here goes. My gggrandfather was Harrison ( Harris) Kay b:1824-25 in Alabama he married Sarah Dunn of Cobb Co Ga. Daughter of William Dunn of Marietta, Ga. This family was listed in the 1850 Cobb Co. Census as Harris Bay with wife and 2 children John Thomas and William James 3 and 1 yrs old. They left Ga about 1856-57 with James K. Dunn her uncle to relocate in Columbia Co. Ga. I have had difficulty finding any Kay families in that area of Ga except one Kay family in Powder Springs at about the same time frame. Would anyone out there know anything about the Kay family from Powder Springs or any other Kay families that may have been in Cobb co. from 1825-57. I would really like to find someone who might know something of this family and maybe help me out here. Louise Kay Horton

I have been unable to verify her birth and do not know the names of her parents. Family history says her parent died when the girls were young and they were raised by and uncle. I would appreciate and census lookups or anything else that would be availabel to identify her parents. They were German/French immigrants from Alsace Loraine. 2. Jim and Debbie Moore
    3. I'm not sure if this email address is for this purpose, as I am just getting started with family research and am not quite sure where to look at times. Am looking for information on Offless Clemmons Holcomb(12-1-1882 to 5-12-1946) and Esther Irene Taylor Holcomb (3-16-1884 to 3-22-1951) and her parents. Offless' parents were Mary Davenport Holcomb and James R. Holcomb (in some places Holcomb may be spelled with an "e" at the end....it was dropped at some point) but need dates of birth. I'm informed that some of this family may be buried in a cemetery on Powers Ferry Road, near Terrell Mill Road in Cobb County, but I do not know the name. I would like to go back as far as possible in checking ancestry. Any help greatly appreciated. Debbie Holcomb Moore

I thought I had sent this information to the GACobb-L a couple of times, but have not seen it go through. Will you please look into it or post it for me? Thanks! My father-in-law was Frank Stephens, born 6/6/1907 in Atlanta, GA and died 4/22/1981 in Greenville, SC. He was married to Elizabeth Pack (11/10/1914, died 7/15/1999) on 9/6/1931. Elizabeth told me last year that his "real" name was Thomas, but his discharge papers from W.W.II says Frank. His father was Perry Stephens, born ca1883 and mother was Katie Alexander (birth & death unknown). I found a newspaper article in my mother-in-law's effects that reads: Husband, Wife Killed, 5 Injured In Crash on Bankhead Highway At County Line (Cobb County). It goes on to say that William Perry Stephens, 73 and his wife (This would be his 2nd wife) of Rt. 1, Austell died in the crash and their bodies were taken to Mayes-Ward Funeral Home in Marietta, GA. (The picture looks like the cars are early to mid 1950's) The children of Perry and Katie that I know of is: Nell Stephens Shubrick, b.1905, died 6/4/1988 Frank Stephens (info above) Louise P. Stephens Zerban (last known address was Orlando, FLA) Elsie Stephens Douglas ( " " " " " " ) Kathryn Stephens Hudson ( " " " " Mt. Thanks so much! Denise Stephens

    3. Several of my family lines - TRIBBLE, MITCHELL, JOHNSON seem to at one time or another lead me to Cobb Co. This is ca 1850. Could someone fill me in as to what may have caused this migration? Also I was told that at one time or another Cobb was part of Cherokee Co? My LEE line was to have come from Cherokee. When looking for records, should I be looking in other counties that once may have been part of Cobb, Cherokee, etc? Clarification would be appreciated. Thank you. Deborah [email protected]

    3. I am also looking for information regarding the marriage of a John Mitchell to Harriet Caroline Tribble in ca 1861. I am specifically looking for the identity of John who died in the Civil War. In the 1850 Cobb Co. census - Harriet was 7 and living with her father - Joel B. Tribble and mother, Jane Tribble both born 1820.. Harriet was apparently the oldest child and subsequently had a sister, Sarah Jane and a brother, Joel L. Jane Tribble's maiden name was Coffey and she at one time was billed as a "Cherokee Opera Singer". Jane and Joel were married in Forysth Co. Deborah [email protected]

    3. Thank you Tamie. That first Johnson family looks promising. There MAY have been other children besides the two boys, I do believe the Rollins family was from SC and the dates fit as to what would likely be Rebecca's age at marriage. Do you have names of the children? It would be interesting to find cemetary records for a Johnson woman who died between 1854 and 1860 Deborah [email protected]

    3. Hi everyone. I am hoping someone will have the ability to do look-ups for me to help my family over a very tall brick wall. We need to know the parents of Francis Samuel Johnson (male) and Richard Benjamin Johnson born in 1852 and 1854 in we believe, Cobb Co., Ga. We know only that their mother died prior to 1860 and we suspect her maiden name is ROLLINS. Their father remarried and another boy child was born (reportedly by the name of Cas?). The boys went to live with their aunt's family by the 1860 Floyd Co. census and never again saw their father or met their half brother. There is another - huge - Johnson line from Francis Samuel (who had 12 children) and his son, my grandfather, had 10 that lived to adulthood and married. We would really like to make a connection to the other Johnsons (and Rollins). Thanks so much for any help you are able to offer. Deborah [email protected]
