    3. I'm back again. These Whitleys have me at my wit's end. Allen and Mary A. (Polly) Whitley appear on the census records as follows: 1830 Anson Co., NC 1840 Cobb Co., GA 1850 Cobb Co., GA 1860 Milton Co., GA 1870 Blount Co., AL 1880 Blount Co., AL In 1840, their sons are in the household. They're not there in 1850. The sons, varying in ages from 10 to 20, were Addison F., Abraham, James Thomas, John W., Henry and possibly and William A. Whitley. I can't find them on any census index. I was approached with a theory tonight. Is it possible these boys were in a boarding school somewhere? They all grew to be educated adults, Addison was in fact a school teacher himself. Would a boarding school even be included in the census? Were there any schools in the Cobb and Milton Co. area? Thanks for any assistance. Terry Jackson

Your help will be appreciated. I know that most of you are into genealogy as I am and if you have ever visited an older cemetery, you know what deplorable condition many of them are in. Are you aware that many states permit building on cemeteries if they are beyond a certain age? Firms will bulldoze right over headstones without so much as an "I'm sorry that we're burying your ancestors and their history will be permanently lost but that's business." It's too late for many family gravesites and older cemeteries but something can be done to preserve what is left and I would appreciate it if you would take just a moment of your time to help. I have just read and signed the online petition: "National Cemetery Protection Act" hosted on the web by PetitionOnline.com, the free online petition service, at: http://www.petitiononline.com/sg0001/petition.html I personally agree with what this petition says, and I think you might agree, too. If you can spare a moment, please take a look, and consider signing yourself. Whether or not you feel that this is an important issue, I would also appreciate it very much if you would pass this message along to anyone you think might add their support to the cause. 1. Sarah Goss BULLARD
    2. Ok folks I have a question - or rather a bunch of them We have John Bullard who married Matilda Reynold 7 May 1830 and Sara Goss 27 Feb 1842 John Bullard, son of Robert S Bullard and Sethany(Cynthia) Allen born 1806 SC Sarah Goss, daughter of Matthew Goss and Diasampi(sp?) Rampas born ca 1822 GA per 1860 Jackson Co census, Nancy born 1846, was the first child born in AL. Louisa (daughter of Matilda) was still with family) no wife was listed for John in this census. from bible records we have that John Bullard married Sarah Goss (she had a brother Evan Pearson Goss - and our line has an Evan Allen and a Hugh Pearson) also that Sarah died 1884 Habersham GA per marriage records from Jackson Co AL - WHICH John Bullard married Sarah Maxwell 19 Mar 1861? There is a John Bullard in the 1850 Benton Co AL (northeast AL county no longer exists) farmer b SC 33? S 23 f GA L 16 f GA John 14 m GA ? 13 GA A 8 m GA F 6 m GA N 4 f GA S 3 f GA Y? 1 m GA Dont ya just hate it when all they list is initials?! Wiley Lunsford married Susan Bullard 25 Dec 1855 per Jackson CO marriage records I gues what I'm trying to place is - Is the Sarah Goss John married the same Sarah Goss daughter of Mathew Goss? and if not who was she. Someone had stipulated that it was Sarah Lunsford instead of Sarah Goss? no documentation on that - other than a Lunsford connection to Bullard family . Where did John marry Sarah? when and where did they come to AL? where are they buried? If Sarah is daughter of Matthew - somewhere said that Diasampi(sp?) was native american?? Does anyone have answers or ideas? thanks doris mayer reece branchville al
