I know some information since I was not adopted as an infant or anything, but just curious to see what's out there. I live in Cobb County, GA and know that my father, George Michael Adams, Sr, was raised by his grandparents, George and Fannie Griggs in Acworth and the Griggs are buried in Mars Hill cemetery and so are Floyd Adams Sr and his wife. My grandfather, Floyd Adams, Jr, just passed away last Wed 1/5/05 but I had only met him twice. He re-marrried many years ago and had lived in Fairburn, GA most of his life. Anyway, thanks for any info..

Butts-Henry-Cobb County GaArchives News.....Joe Hughs, Arrested January 18 1882 ************************************************ Copyright. All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Don Bankston digitaldog1@juno.com January 1, 2005, 12:58 am Jackson News Week of January 18, 1882 A rather strange proceeding on our streets Monday evening, created some little curiosity among the spectators that witnessed the maneuverings. A Mr. Terry of McDonough, Ga., in company with a Mr. Simmons, came in town with a warrant for Jo Hughs, who had been here for several days. He was arrested by the marshal of Jackson, but upon what change, we did not learn, but is thought he is connected with the crime recently committed in Rome, for which $500 reward is offered for the perpetrator. Hughs disclaimed being guilty of any thing to authorize his arrest. Simmons who has been living at McDonough but a short time having bought Terrys bar room abut three months ago, is acquainted with Hughs, and both are from Cobb county and know a great many people in Rome. Terry and Simmons had about as much whiskey aboard, when they arrived, as they could well manage, and after considerable talking between them Terry drew from his pocket a printed description of the man wanted by the marshal of Rome, upon which he arrested Simmons, the man who came with him to assist in the arrest of Hughs. Hughs seemed to be uneasy while Simmons, in a rather a witty and unconcerned manner, said he was use to it and at first didnt appear to care, but finally appeared to grow quite wrathy at being arrested. It was right amusing to see the drunken trio; you could hardly decide which was which. But Mr. Terry was satisfied enough to hire another horse and buggy and gave Cook McCord $25., to assist him in carrying the parties to McDonough, for which place they left about dark. It is not thought by our Marshall, that the descriptions suit either of the parties, fully, but is satisfied they are guilty of some crime. Abbott passed away quietly...Thus has ended suddenly and unexpectedly to all a noble and useful life. While Mr. Abbott had been in poor health for some time it was not thought that he was in any immediate danger. A few days ago he went to Atlanta to undergo an operation in the hope of getting permanent relief and from this operation he never fully recovered... Mr. Abbott was born in Cobb county, GA, May 18th, 1846. ..He had lived in Acworth for over thirty years...The high esteem in which he was held was evinced by the unusual honor accorded him by the business men of Acworth in closing their doors during his burial... He was a Confederate soldier, having entered the army at the early age of sixteen. He was in Company I, 7th Georgia Cavalry, and served bravely the last two years of the war. He was a Royal Arch Mason and was a member of Acworth Lodge No. 176, F.& A.M., and The Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Acworth Lodge No. 94...He was a member of the Gideons... He was a member of the Acworth Presbyterian church. He was one of the charter members of the Acworth church, having joined from the Mars Hill church at the organization of the former in 1881...He held a remarkable record in the Sunday school. For years he had been present at every service without missing a single Sunday... Mr. Abbott is survived by a wife and five children and several grandchildren... The funeral was preached by Rev. E.D. Patton from the Presbyterian church Monday afternoon and he was buried with Masonic honors. Among those from out of town who attended the funeral of Mr. Abbott were: Mr. and Mrs. Joe Abbott, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Abbott, Rev. and Mrs. Nath Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. W.P. Martin; Mr. Charles Strange, Mr. and Mrs. John Strange, Summerville; Mr. Tom Strange, Mr. Wesley Strange, Mr. George and Miss Bessie Agnew, Rome; Mrs. Reece Combs, Adairsvile; Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Bilbo, Miss Bilbo, Cartersville; Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Additional Comments: Jack Abbott married Tallula "Lula" Strange following the death of his first wife, Julia "Bunnie" Cotten in 1903. He had no children with Ms. Strange, who was childless herself. Mrs. Nath Thompson was his daughter Sara "Sallie"; Mrs. W.P. Martin was his daughter Julia. The Bilbo family were relatives of his daughter-in-law, Ethyl Bilbro (Mrs. Jack Abbott). I live in NC and was not aware of the pre1935 grave survey. Where is that located? I would appreciate a lookup if anyone has access to it. This would be for any Wesson or for Susan Wesson who would have died 1900-1910, she would have been between 85 and 95 years old. Her husband died ~1868 in Polk Co., but she was in Cobb later [1880 and 1900 census]. I have not found her in any of the Polk co. surveys. Thank you, Lynn Wesson Chapel Hill, NC

Second is that there is both an Eliza (16) as well as an Elizabeth (5). Hope this helps. Luana Thanks, Carolynn in Washington
