Thank you so much Natalie. I truly appreciate your efforts and time. Joan ----- Original Message ----- From: "J. Most gravestones from that period did not survive in this county. Can anyone with the Oconee Hill Cemetery book check for Joan? That is the best hope you have of finding your relations. > > Natalie > > > Original Message ---- > Natalie, if your book is indexed by surnames, would you mind looking > for a > David Stephens died 1830 and Mary Frances "Frankie" HARRIS Stephens > died > 1850...George Harper 188? Joan: FYI - Oconee Hill Cemetery was purchased in 1855 by the City of Athens when further burials were prohibited in the old town cemetery on land owned by The University of Georgia. Therefore, the first burials there wouldn't have taken place until sometime in 1855 or 1856. I have a list of the Stephens, etal., that were buried there. They have all been in the 20th century. If you do find where your David Stephens, Mary Frances "Frankie" HARRIS Stephens, your Harpers, Applewhites, and all are buried, please share with me. I've been searching for the last 9 or 10 years to no avail. I do have different death dates for David and Frances. And it would be very interesting to know where our family tree branches off...
