    3. Anyone interested in preserving the history of Athens and the surrounding area will be welcomed as a member of the Athens Historical Society. Individual membership is only $10 per calendar year and you will receive quarterly newsletters, the annual volume of papers, the Athens Historian; as well as interesting speakers at each quarterly meeting (Jan, Mar, May & Oct.). (The best bargain in town!) The next meeting is Sunday, May 19th, 3:00 p.m., in the Auditorium of the Athens-Clarke County Library off Baxter Street in Athens. Our speakers will be Ms. Chantel Dunham, Director of Development for the UGA Libraries, and Mr. Milton Leathers, who is well known in the Athens area for his work in preserving Athens' history. They will present a slide show on the Treasures of the University of Georgia Libraries - followed by a discussion on the importance of preserving the history contained in old family letters and papers. The October 20th meeting, also in the ACC Library Auditorium, will feature former UGA Coach Dan Magill, who will speak on the History of Sports at UGA. I bet all the gents will really enjoy this one! You don't have to be a member of the Society to attend the meetings - they're free and open to the public! Everyone is welcome! If you'd like to become a member & be included in the 2002 AHS Directory, send your check payable to Athens Historical Society to AHS - Dues, P.O.
