    3. Ms. McBride: I am also involved in slave research, and though it gets difficult, it is not impossible, don't give up. First--check the wills of estate settlements of the Merriweathers (if they died before slavery ended), hopefully you will find inventories that will included the names, ages and maybe family structures of their slaves. You should also check the marriages of these guys, when slaves may have been given as gifts--and the births of children. If you know these fellows parents and their spouse's parents, you may check there wills and other records for mention of your enslaved ancestors--who may have been gifts or bequests from those older folks to their children. I'll keep an eye out for mention of your names---who were the slaves, please keep a look out for my Bowen and Venters ancestors--who came from that area, but migrated to Texas as slaves. shirley Eppy <eppy@ticnet.com> wrote: MCBRIDEPchs@aol.com wrote: > Hello, > I am trying to records of David and James Merriwether, that would list > the names of their slaves.
