I would certainly hope that this cemetery would be preserved. The counties of Clarke, Oconee, and any other counties that were taken from this area should have some input. The historical, preservation, and genealogical societies would most likely be happy to work with your client and the county to preserve and maintain this cemetery. I believe there are also laws that protect cemeteries such as this one. At the very least, a survey or inventory of the headstones should be taken. This would ensure that researchers and descendants of the people buried in the cemetery would have access to this information. Who knows, I or you may have relatives buried there.
