GA in 1864. My great grandfather, M.E. (Moses Ervin) BOYD, Civil War records shows that he was treated and released from the Jackson Hospital in VA during the siege of Petersburg. The record states he was furloughed and his destination was Athens, GA. I have not been able to find him in any census in GA. He fought in Co F, 28th Reg GA Infantry, CSA, which was mainly made up of men from Cherokee County. However, he must have had some relatives or ties in Athens in 1864 if he was furloughed and went there. Thanks for any assistance.
