Hello Roll Call, I'm researching Sharrard (Sherrod/Sherwood) Harper (b. ~1783) and wife Elizabeth Hodges. They were in Clarke (Mars Hill area, now Oconee), then in Newton by 1830, and Pike by 1840. Sharrard was associated with George Harper, and lived next to 2 of George's sons, but no actual connection found (except via Hodges sisters). I haven't found Sharrard's parents, nor proof of siblings -- probable brothers were Haywood (wife Elizabeth Smith), and Avaret/Everet (wife Elizabeth ___). A widow Dorcas Harper may be related; she was associated with these around 1805-1809. Elizabeth Hodges was daughter of Sherwood Hodges and his wife Mary ___, and sister to Drucilla Hodges who married John W. Harper, son of George Harper. In Pike/Upson, some of Sharrard's children married: Sherwood Harper married Laura E. Warner (1849) James Harper married Elizabeth Grice (1837) Joseph Harper married Serena Johnson (1839) (later went to KY/MO ?) Sarah Harper married John Kent Jr. Does anyone know these folks, or have Harper's or Hodges (or related families) who were in Clarke, or Newton/Walton, or Pike/Upson counties... Barbara
