I am searching for any information on William Pounds born abt 1785 and his wife, Elizabeth Roberts, born 12/15/1790. They were living in Clarke Co., GA at the time of their marriage -- between 1807 and 1813. I have been unable to find any record of their marriage. I believe this William Pounds may be the oldest son of Richard Eli Pounds born 1763 and Mary Ann Davison born 1772. Richard Eli Pounds was living in Clarke co., GA (now Oconee Co.) when he was murdered on June 6, 1807, leaving at least 8 children. William Pounds and, widow, Mary Davison Pounds were the executors of Richard Eli Pounds's estate which was quite large. Court records document the estate transactions for over 10 years, so William Pounds was definately in Clarke Co., GA between 1807 and 1815. However, I have been unable to confirm that William Pounds was in fact a son of Richard Eli , nor have I been able to locate this William Pounds on any census for Clarke Co., GA. If anyone had any information at all on this couple, I would very much appreciate hearing from you. Thank you, Sheila sfondren@network-one.com

There are a number of STONE graves in Oconee Hill Cemetery, in both the old section and the new, but no Charles or Lorenzo. The VON DER LEITH lot is just inside the entrance to the historic cemetery & burials date from 1856 to 1920s. No STONE markers in this lot either. Clarke Volunteers Ligon 100 This militia of 100 men was raised to go to Columbus to fight in the Indian Wars of 1836.... Who is this Capt Ligon? Does anyone have his first name? Did anyone have ancestors that fought in this war? Many times the service was only 3 months and then they received bounty land and a pension in later years. I'd like to get more on-line about this militia. Virginia Crilley

In your data there Hillyer Whitehead married Jane C. Epps. We have that data as married to Sarah Jane Epps and their son as Thomas Young Whitehead. I have this on authority from the second Thomas Young Whitehead who lives in Miami and gave me the complete details on that branch of the family. Would you like a GEDCOM file of that branch to add to your records? I have this line down many generations to pretty current people. Robert C. Whitehead Bob@winterhawke.com
