    1. Re: [GaClarke] Archibald Gann b. 1817
    2. Did you get the info you needed on Archibald? Elizabeth Gann is his mother and as you know, this is ancestor of writer Ernest Gann. Have to contacted the Gann Family Society at the website? Currently there are DNA tests among the Gann male descendant to determine kinship. Please let me know if you need additional info. Douglas R. Davis

    3. Dear Darla; I believe that Jemima Wilson may be related to Charles W. Wilson and "Jenny" or Jane Barber. You see Charles and Jane had four sons that I know of for sure: Allen Harris WILSON, W.Griffin J. WILSON, Napoleon Wilson, and Jacob Richard WILSON b 20 June 1844. Allen is found serving with J.P. WILSON in the Co. D.,53 Reg't Georgia in 1862. He enlisted in Coweta Heard Co.,GA. I have often wondered if this J.P is the person who married Jemima found living with the Barber's. Jane's brother was Griffin Barber. I have done a great deal of research on this family and they migrated from Clarke Co.,Ga>Monroe,Co.,GA>Coweta Co.,GA.,>Randolph Co.,AL.,>Heard Co.,GA I'm sorry that I can't answer your question of who Richard's children were but maybe this will give you a lead.... 3. People sometimes write to me asking, "Why aren't there ever any new files for XXX county?" We are dependent on people just like YOU, to send us what they have researched. If nothing is being posted, then we need you to work with the County List to try to get people to share their information. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Yc.2ADE/832.1 Message Board Post: I was wondering if you might know the children of your Richard WILSON? On the 1850 Clark County census there is a Griffin BARBER, who has a married daughter living in his household. Her name is Jemima BARBER WILSON. Her husband, James P. WILSON, is not in the home. They were married in Clark County on April 17, 1840. It appears she might have two sons, a James and a John. I am trying to locate information on this Jemima BARBER WILSON, in hopes that she might be my gggrandmother, Jemima WILSON. My Jemima WILSON shows up in Marshall Co. Alabama on Sept 5, 1859 when she marries William J. BRIGHT. She has two sons prior to this marriage that I know of, George born ca. 1852 and Andrew Levi b. ca. 1854. These boys are said to have never known their father. On most of the census they say their mother was born in Alabama, and that they were too. But, on the 1900 Indian Territory Oklahoma census Andrew says his mother was born in GEORIGA. Any help you might give regardi! ng this Richard WILSON would be very much appreciated. Thank you. Darla

They resided in Clarke County. I have been told that a Richard C. Wilson III compiled a book entitled An Eighth Generation Genealogy and a copy is located at the University of Georgia Library in Athens. Also, according to a family researcher (no longer living), his papers on the Wilson/Holmes family are also archived there. If anyone can help me locate this information, I will be most appreciative and will gladly pay for the information in this book and papers. Other brothers of Richard resided in Jackson County (Robert Wilson), and Lumpkin County (John Wilson).

    1. Re: [GaClarke] Confederate camps
    2. Found the following two camps for Clarke County, GA in an excellent 1995 book: Camp Fires of Georgia's Troops, 1861-1865 by William S. Smedlund: p. 121 Camp Fairground, "located on the north side of the ridge of the fairgrounds near Athens. Georgia Troops: 30th Battalion Georgia Cavalry, Co. A, 8/7/1864-9/15/1864 (The company returned to this camp for a few days about October 26, 1864. Sources: ASB, 8/17/1864 & 10/26/1864." ASB is Athens Southern Banner newspaper, Athens, GA p. 266 Camp Taylor, "located near Thibodaux. Georgia Troops: Athens Reserve Corps, Georgia Infantry (Light Duty), 9/30/1862. Source: GDAH, CSR, 258/52" The book offers three separate indexes allowing you to look up individual proper names, by unit in chronological order, and by State and county.
