    1. [GaClarke] October Challange - KINNEY
    2. Sam Lenaeus
    3. My line Jonathan Kinney drew Habershan County land from Clarke County in 1820. His line is said to have come from NC to Georgia and settled the area of Crooked Creek in Clarke & Jackson Counties. "Gone to Georgia" says all Kinneys in the area in 1820 are related to the 1st Kinney to come there with William Clark to settle the then Talassee Colony the summer of 1786. "Elkin" may or may not be the 1st name of this Kinney. The Kinney's were mainly in Clarke County up till 1840 one does show up in Gwinett as early as 1830. I have collected a lot of data for different Kinneys in Clarke & Jackson Counties up to 1850. I have not been able to connect many of these into family groups w/ known relationships between them. By 1850 there are not any Kinney's living of these lines born anyplace other than Georgia making it very hard to find where there ancestors were before then. By 1880 none are living that had parents born any place other than Georgia. 1795 Clarke Co Samuel Kenney in Kenney's district 1801 Clarke Co Marriage Chaney Kinney m. 3. ----- Original Message ----- From: Lawrence and Elouise Huff To: James Epperson Sent: Wednesday, October 02, 2002 2:06 PM Subject: October Challenge - Huff Eppy, I would welcome any information anyone may have on Henry Huff. He moved from Rowan County, N. C., to Hancock County, Ga., in the early 1790's. From Hancock he moved up to Jackson County, where he bought land on Rose Creek in 1797 in an area which became Clarke County in 1801 and still later Oconee County in 1875. He bought additional land on Rose Creek and lived there until his death about 1841 or 1842. He made his Will March 17, 1841. At the time he made his Will he made no mention of his wife, so she must have died earlier. I would especially like to know her name. I have not found it in any of the records I have consulted. Also, I understand that he and several other men bought a big tract of land in Clarke County. I would like information on this purchase of land. I have seen a reference to it in the Clarke County Courthouse. I shall appreciate any help anyone can give me. Lawrence Huff

    3. ----- Original Message ----- From: Lawrence and Elouise Huff To: James Epperson Sent: Wednesday, October 02, 2002 2:28 PM Subject: October Challenge - Miller Dear Eppy, I am seeking information on the Joshua Miller family in Clarke County and later Oconee. Joshua died before 1850, but his wife, Mary, was living in 1850. She and her unmarried children are listed in the 1850 census of Clarke County. I am especially interested in her children who had already married by that time and had families of their own. I know that her daughter Asenath Avy had already married Leroy Huff and had their own family. But I think that she had a son or two who had already married, and these are the ones that I am especially interested in. Asenath Avy is my great-grandmother. Any help will be appreciated. Lawrence Huff

    3. Hi Folks, Since October is Family History Month and in honor of this I would like to offer you the following challenge... Tell us about one of your county families and who it is you're looking for. If you have several, do each family in a separate e-mail, but let's see all the families that list members are actively seeking. Some of you may have posted this data in the past month. To you I say this... list members come and go. Perhaps a new list member is looking for that same family. Please be sure to include in the subject line "October Challenge - Surname". This will make it easier to hit the delete key for those that are not interested. I hope everyone is having a great week! Thanks jimmy
