Dolores, you do not necessarily have to go to that library to do your research. Many newspapers on microfilm can travel through the Inter-Library Loan service. Ask that local librarian if those microfilm can be requested through Inter-Library Loan, if so then your OWN local librarian can show you how to fill out the paperwork and the films will can to your local library for you to view for about three weeks. If he says not, than ask him if he knows of any OTHER library, like that state library of Georgia, that might have that same microfilm copy, and then ask them if their copy circulates through Inter-Library Loan. -Will Johnson Professional Genealogist In a message dated 12/29/2002 5:13:08 PM Pacific Standard Time, eppy@ticnet.com writes: > "Dolores J. Wyatt Irwin Mitchell b. 2 Mar 1858 in Hall Co., GA d. 6 Nov 1894 m. Nealy Rose, d/o BOW Rose in Athens, GA 8-31-1882. Apparently, after his death their son lived with his grandparents. I do not have a date of death for Nealy. Wyatt Irwin Mitchell was a brother of my grandmother, Mamie Mitchell Gardner. She used to tell us that during the Civil War their mother, Elizabeth Sizemore Mitchell would send the children out scavenging for food, as their father was in the CSA. They came onto a Yankee emcampment and Irwin told the soldiers he was hungry. They sat them down and fed them. They got a lickin' when they told their mother. His father was Wyatt Early Mitchell who lost an arm in the war. I may have more info when I can find time. I have the Mitchell bible with names and dates, etc. Merry Christmas, Cousin! Nelle

I am cross posting to several Georgia and Virginia County lists a reply to this message about Elijah Lindsey of Frederick Co., Va. and Wilkes Co., Ga. that appeared on the Lindsey e-mail list from rootsweb. Just what I do not need is another Lindsey line to keep sorted out in Wilkes, Oglethorpe, Greene, Taliaferro, and Clarke County, Georgia! This one from Elijah Lindsey would make three major Lindsey/Lindsay line in that area that I know about. Unfortunately, I don't think I have any information on this Elijah Lindsey. The major line of John (Silverfist) Lindsey has been posted on these lists in the past and printed various places. They were also from Virginia, but I don't recall what county at present without spending a lot of time in my files. I have never been able to connect my Jeremiah Lindsey line to that of this "Silverfist." The SECOND Lindsey line is mine from a whole strong of JEREMIAH LINDSEYS from St. Peter's Parish in New Kent County,Virginia, to St. Paul's Parish,Hanover County, Virginia. As most researchers know, Hanover and New Kent are "burned" counties with few early records before 1800. There is a Joseph Lindsey on the 1704 Quit Rents Rolls that I am claiming as my line until somebody can show me different. Has anyone claimed this Joseph Lindsey? I think the spelling is slightly different without checking back in my notes. He was from a county close to New Kent. Then c. 1714 Jeremiah Lindsey is getting land in New Kent with his father, Joseph, paying in pounds of Tobacco. St. Paul's Parish gets formed from St. Peter's Parish c.1704. Then St. Paul's Parish falls into Hanover County when it gets cut from New Kent about 1720. Then in the St. Paul's Vestry Book for Hanover County and some later mentions in th 1780's there are a number of mentions of Jeremiah Lindseys. I think there were at least two or maybe three Jeremiah Lindseys of various generations. One was in the Militia and one signed several of petitons. Then Jeremiah Lindsey buys land which was in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, from Harrison Musgrove, but the land was in Greene County, Georgia, by the time the deed was filed c. 1805. Oglethorpe County was cut from Wikes in 1793. He dies with a will in Greene County, Georgia, in 1800. He named two sons Jeremiah, (Jr.) and David., Daughters Isabella married Samuel Davis Durham and Jenny/Jeannet/Jane married Alan Tucker. Also a granddaughter with the last name of Williams (maiden or married name ???). Will does not name, but indicates that he had deceased children other than these four then living. I think this 200 acres tract of Lindsey land is where present day Temperance Bell Crossroads is now in Greene County, Georgia. In the 138th and 137 Georgia Militia District, between Woodville and Bethesda Church. Does anybody have any Lindsey information in Virginia earlier than 1704 about this Joseph Lindsey on the 1704 Quit Rent Rolls. Since I was born in Georgia, just married a Texan, all of my Lindsey research pertains to these Georgia and Virginia people. There were three men in St. George's Parish by the name of Thomas, Elias and Isaac. Each were granted 100 acres of land. Isaac Linsey was granted land on February 3, 1767, Elias Lindsay was granted land on March 5, 1771 and Thomas Linsey was granted land on Octobert 4, 1774. Today I found a David Lindsey who was born abt. 1750 who married Mary Casey. He has a son John W. Lindsey who was born abt. 1777 and he married Elizabeth West. Thier son was Joseph H. Lindsey who was born abt. 1812 he married Sarah Harmon. John Lindsey (son of Elijah Lindsey) married Sarah Adrell I think. I have this information somewhere but I can't put my hands on it right now. I'm wondering if these men are all brothers and son's of Elijah. Is anyone on the board researching this family?? Or have any of Elijah's ancestor's taken part in the DNA study? If so, please let me know. I don't want to waste my time following a dead lead. Connie, Sorry to take so long to reply. I'm just starting to research the North side of my family. Thank goodness that I got a response from Nelle and from Joan. They have saved me alot of grief (and embarrassment) and time. Abriham North was the brother of Susannah (North) Harper! She's still my 4thG-Grandmother but she is where I've got to start back researching, with the North branch... I'll keep you posted if I find anything. Hi Nancy - I know of your McDaniel but haven't been able to place him in my family, McDonald/McDaniel - they straddled the Jackson/Clarke counties in this time period. Mine were James, William, Braddock, Henry Britton, Jane and Lucinda (plus a few more of unknown names).
