By the 1820s the family had moved on to Fayette County, then later on to other Georgia counties. If you have any information on this family, please contact me. Kim

Their sons were: Levin MCGEE b1800 SC, d1836 Cherokee Co AL George Wilson MCGEE [email protected] Clarke Co GA, d1877 Troup Co GA[my line] John Wesley MCGEE [email protected] Clarke or Troupe Co GA, d1867 Troup Co GA Peter Williamson MCGEE [email protected] [email protected] I'm sure there was no birth certificate for Geo Wilson MCGEE in 1801 in Clarke Co., but it would be nice to find some record. If anyone has any suggestions or help they can give I would appreciate it. I know who James MCGEE's father was, but I have no idea who his wife's, Ann MADDUX, ancestors were. There may have been other MADDUXes in Clarke at the time, and I would like to know that. Also KIMBROUGH is another brick wall. I don't know how far Green Co is from Clarke, but an old family letter says there were Kimbrough brothers at the wedding of Eleanor and Ignatius RUSSELL. Thanks for the help Tory Braden St. Simons, Glynn Co, GA

    1. [GACLARKE-L] Landers 1833-1840
    2. Searching for information on Eli Landers. Eli married Margaret McRee Aug. 8, 1833 in Clarke Co. By 1840 Eli and Margaret moved to Walton Co. and had children: Elizabeth Jane, Matthew, Thomas, Eli, Robert and Francis Marion. There was a Matthew Landers listed in the 1830 census of Clarke Co. Matthew may possibly be Eli's father. Also have land records that date 1833 for a Richard Landers and Benjamin Landers. Does anyone have any information on these people. Would also like to hear from anyone with a Landers connection. Thanks, Glenda

Spencer Reynolds died in Williamson County, Tennessee in 1826 and his will is filed there. George Barber died in 1822 in Oglethorpe COunty GA and his widow Margaret Barber died in 1829 in Henry County GA. Margaret mentions several of her Reynolds grandchildren in her will. These records are available in my Barber family book, at the URL below. I believe Jim Reynolds lives in the Clarke County area. He is descended from two different Reynolds lines. His father? was Enoch James Reynolds, a different line from his mother's descent from Reese Barber-Catharine Reynolds line of Trail Creek, Clarke County. David [email protected] --- David W. 1. My Reynolds/Connell/Caudle Clarke Co Ancestors
    2. FWI
    3. I have some Reynolds, Connell, and Caudle data that begins in and around Athens (Clarke Co) GA. Have no idea where any of these families came from, but some of them are buried on the University of GA Campus. William Neal Reynolds, born in Jasper Co GA December 11, 1860, married Rosena Victoria Connell, September 22, 1878, at Winterville, (Clarke Co) GA. They are my great grandparents. Rosena Victoria Connell's mother and father, and possibly her grandmother, are the ones buried on the University of GA Campus. Names buried in this three-grave site are: Mrs. Charlotte Caudle, (May 17, 1788 - August 24, 1866); Elizabeth Connell, (September 5, 1826 - June 7, 1888); and, Green J. Connell, (May 10, 1930 - May 4, 1901). William Nixon Reynolds had a number of siblings and relatives in and around Clarke Co GA when he married Rosena Victoria Connell. I know nothing of the Connells. I have not yet researched either the Reynolds or the Connell line, but I do have good information on most of the descendants of William Nixon Reynolds and Rosena Victoria Connell, which includes my grandmother. 1. Welcome to GACLARKE again
    2. Hi everybody. Welcome to GACLARKE. Know you got my message earlier today when you first subscribed, but I wanted to say a few words on our first nite. I thought you ought to know there are about 20 of you so far and this is only the first day. If you want to start posting, have at it. If you are like me, you've been waiting for awhile to talk about your Clarke County families. I do not care for "Roll Calls" as such. Prefer to have everybody to tell about their Clarke County family ties. Put the surnames in the subject line instead, and add some dates and places. And SURNAMES in all caps is always helpful. That's easy enough. Let's be smart about this list. No need to rush into anything, but if you are ready, it is perfectly fine. You can always post again as more folks sign on. It is perfectly fine to bring into the discussions the mention of neighboring counties. In fact I do not see a way to avoid it. Just so we don't go too far afield. If you post anything here on the list that you wish me to post to the Clarke Co. GAgenWeb site, just tell me and I will save it to that folder. For now it is a hand-made site and everything is still hand-entered in the old-fashioned time- honored tradition of the Internet. So let's get started. Anbody got any Laniers or Langfords?? First half of the 19th century. I'll tell you about them later. Want to hear about your folks now. Best regards, Carol Middleton
