So, if you want to reply to this post, you need to follow the URL. This is a new deal, folks. I hope it is not too confusing. David On Sun, 2 Apr 2000, D. Sorry ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Sat, 01 Apr 2000 19:08:00 -0500 From: Jim Powell Jr <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Subject: 1854 Will of Elijah Brown Hi David... This is Jim Powell Jr. Among other things, I am the Ancient Records Coordinator for Alachua County, Florida. We are attempting to place images and eventually transcriptions of all of our older records online. One of the documents that we already have online is a copy of the Will of Elijah Brown. The will is listed as from Clark County, Georgia. I thought you might be interested in checking it out. The URL for the TOC for the document is http://clkres17.co.alachua.fl.us/clerk/Ancient/WillImages/100_11.html . The numbers are our files names, i.e. Apartment Drawer 100, file 11, document 1, part a. The images are 600 pixel wide jpgs with a much larger image linked to the image. If it happens to help someone, please let our clerk know. Have a great day, Jim Ancient Records Coordinator and Webmaster Alachua County Clerk of the Courts Office http://www.clerk-alachua-fl.org/index.html

    1. [GACLARKE] Jesse Jones and Rebecca Miller
    2. Anne W. Westbrook
    3. I am looking for the parents and siblings of Jesse Jones and Rebecca Miller. They got a marriage license in Clarke Co. September 30, 1820 and were married the next day October 1, 1820. They were still in Clarke in 1828 when their son Harrison Jones was born. By 1831 they were in Fayette County according to the tax records and were on the federal census in Fayette in 1840 and 1850. By 1860 Jesse was apparently a widower. Their children were Jesse, Jr.; Harrison; Pascal; Burton; Robert and Martha. There was a Harrison Jones who sold land in Clarke in 1808. In fact, I have seen references to several Harrison Joneses who would be a generation or more older than Jesse's and Rebecca's son Harrison. Is anyone researching Jones in Clarke County? Does anyone have any information on this family? Anne Westbrook

    1. [GACLARKE] Any families that moved abt 1810 from Clarke Co area to TN?
    2. Zachariah was born in the 1780s??? in SC? and married Tabitha STOKES b 1790 in GA. They married in Clarke Co, GA, in 1807 and were in TN by 1811, though I'm not sure where. There is only one source that gives me the birthplace of SC for Zachariah so I am not sure how accurate this is. Zach & Tabitha had at least 6 sons named Ailsy F, Andrew Jackson "Archer", Zachariah R, Winston William, Jefferson F, & Ephraim S. With the exception of the firstborn, Ailsy, who was born in GA, all the sons were born in TN. My Zachariah JORDAN was in the 1820 Bedford Co, TN, census and he purchased land in 1820 also. There was a William JORDAN that was a witness to the deed, although there was no William JORDAN listed in the 1820 Bedford Co, TN, census. Does anyone have any families from the Clarke Co area that moved to TN between 1808 and 1811? I would love to connect this family to someone or at least find other families that migrated with them. Sandra

    1. [GACLARKE] Fw: Jeremiah Matthews' slave birth records
    2. Suzi Motley
    3. ----- Original Message ----- From: Suzi Motley To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, February 12, 2000 10:08 AM Subject: Ref: Jeremiah Matthews' slave birth records My gr-gr-gr-gr grandfather Jeremiah Matthews' pension papers that I have received lists three of his slave's birth records with the records of his family. I did not know if anyone might be researching their slave ancestors in Georgia, but thought that this might be of interest or help. Jeremiah was born in VA, served in the Revolution from Cumberland County, NC & married Sarah Johnson from Johnston County, NC. After the war he moved to GA. He lived in Clarke, Ogelthorpe and finally Newton County where he died 8/5/1842. I am not sure which county he lived in when the slaves were born. He lists in his family records: George born May 3, 1801, Phyllis born Jan. 5, 1796, and Mingo Aug 7, 1802. Also in his will Jeremiah lists a very old slave, named Sarah, who he made lifetime provisions for her upkeep. Also in the will it mentions that Mingo was a runaway. If anyone need copies of these please contact me. Suzi
