Posted on: Clarke County Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Clarke?read=432 Surname: BOYD ------------------------- Am seeking Boyds or Boyd relatives who were living in Clarke Co. GA in 1864. My great grandfather, M.E. (Moses Ervin) BOYD, Civil War records shows that he was treated and released from the Jackson Hospital in VA during the siege of Petersburg. The record states he was furloughed and his destination was Athens, GA. I have not been able to find him in any census in GA. He fought in Co F, 28th Reg GA Infantry, CSA, which was mainly made up of men from Cherokee County. However, he must have had some relatives or ties in Athens in 1864 if he was furloughed and went there. Thanks for any assistance.
Posted on: Clarke County Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Clarke?read=431 Surname: SHEPHERD, WILDER ------------------------- I'm hoping somebody researching Shepherds from Georgia knows the parents of Isaac Calvin Shepherd b. abt. 1835-40 supposedly from Hall or Lumpkin Co. However, I'm checking all other counties including Clarke on the chance his memory of where he was born was unreliable. Issac is said to have left Georgia when he was about 12 w/his uncle Wash "William Washington". Does any of this ring a bell?

Pat, it's unlikely that you'll ever find out where she was buried short of finding a family history that some later generation wrote down. If she survived him, she would have been listed as his widow on his estate papers. If she pre-deceased him, unless she brought land into the marriage from her father, you may never know, except by finding a marriage license recorded somewhere or a Bible record. Have you posted a query on the Bearden family GenForum webpage? Good luck! Hi All, Can anyone tell me what SHELTON's are listed in the 1999 Oconee Hill Cemetery Book. Please email: Marc at: [email protected]
Hi All, Does anyone have an email address to the Athens Historical Society as well as a website? I am interested in becoming a member because I have family in Athens, Ga. and would like to see info on the current survey they are ABOUT to do on the Oconee Hill Cemetery on Jackson St. I have a few relatives buried there and at one time had found a few others, but they were down an embankment which we had to clear out to get to those graves, Actually we cleared them out and found the graves by accident. I believe there could be other Sheltons buried there as well. Can someone help. Marc E. Shelton Email: [email protected]
