    1. [GACLARKE] Jesse Jones and Rebecca Miller m. Clarke Co. 1820
    2. Anne W. Westbrook
    3. Jesse Jones and Rebecca Miller were married Oct. 1, 1820 in Clarke Co. They were still in Clarke when their son Harrison Jones was born in 1828. Census records indicate Jesse was born in GA c. 1788. Tax records indicate he was in Fayette Co., GA by 1831. Their children were Jesse, Jr., Burton, Paschal, Harrison and Robert and daughter Martha. Rebecca was deceased before 1850 and maybe before 1840. In 1847 Jesse posted a bond to be made guardian of his own underage sons, Harrison and Robert. Perhaps it was because they inherited property through their mother's family and as minors could not take title in their own names. Or does anyone have any other suggestions? Does anyone know of Clarke County Jones or Miller families Jesse and Rebecca could have been members of? Harrison and Robert and, I think, Martha lived the rest of their lives in Fayette Co. I'd appreciate any information, clues or suggestions. Anne Westbrook

Her parents were Jesse Gunter and Rebecca Butler. After Jesse's death Rebecca married Vinson Hubbard, but the three Gunter children apparently became guardians of Jesse Gunter's brother. I would like to know more about the Gunter line. When was Jesse born and who were his parents. Oglethorpe County is the vicinity of my search, but it could be Wilkes or MAdison Coundty as well, it seems the county lines changed back in the early 1800s. As near as I can tell Jesse Gunter died mid 1820s. I don't know much about the Hubbards either.

It actually was just a picnic table and shelter located just off US441 across from the Princeton church. That area has had considerable growth since the reunions. For a while a development next to it caused terrific erosion of the site. Later development then just absorbed the site. My dad was one of the early trustees and I have asked him what actually happened to the ownership of the plot but he doesn't know. So its not there now. Maybe some of the other Hemricks actually sold it. I did hear there was a Hemrick reunion somewhere -- I think Alabama maybe this year. Hope that helps.
