Francis Loyall died in Jackson Co, GA, 1799. His widow, Elizabeth Hicks Loyall married Nicholas Baker in 1803. Francis and Elizabeth Loyall, my ggg grandparents lived in the area of Jackson Co that was annexed to form Clarke County in 1801. Would appreciate any information about their residence and the location of Francis Loyall's grave. I have identified five of their children,------Richard Loyall, John Loyall, Jesse Loyall (moved from Athens in 1810 to Jasper Co, GA where he is buried in Monticello), Elizabeth Loyall Appling ( married William Jesse Appling and moved to Walker Co, AL), Margaret Frances "Peggy" Loyall Baker, my gg grandmother (married Charles Baker of Tuscaloosa, AL). Would like to correspond with descendants of these individuals. Elizabeth Baker
I've enjoyed your mailing list, but since I've never had any of my names show up in all the time I've subscribed, I think that I may be looking in the wrong place. Thank you.
Is there a cemetery in Clarke County with a mention of Nutt? Is anyone researching the Nutt family of Clarke County? Janet
Hi Larry - Since you mentioned Doolittle's ... The East GA Genealogical Society is currently surveying cemeteries of Walton Co. & will publish a new cemetery book. Recently we were surveying the graves at Walnut Grove Methodist Church in Walnut Grove. These are the first few graves: Smith, Hariette Rebecca, b. 1846, d. 1923 3 Above ground tombs Doolittle, ---, Infant of L. W. & A. L. Doolittle, d. 29 Feb 1884 Doolittle, J. Vivian, Dau. of L. W. & A. L. Doolittle, b. 29 July 1887, d. 21 May 1889. The above ground tombs are concrete, pretty large, & the writing on top is totally illegible. We were told that Doolittle's are buried here (possible soldiers, but I would think one would be the wife), & the tombs had been pulled in by oxen. These were about the first graves at the church cemetery. Would you have any idea of who these Doolittle's might have been? Would you know who L. W. & A. L. Doolittle were?
