As best as I can tell Rehobothville was on the Clarke/Morgan county lines in 1861. I found a great program at a site called the Gold Bug that sells a little program that has 300,000 little known sites on it, but also has an animated map of the 48 states and the progress of county formation since statehood. It is well worth the money.
Gary, Thanks for confirming that for me. But this brings up idea.... What if everyone checks there records and if you know of a sheriff, and the years he served, let us know, I'll post it on the Clarke Co. site and maybe we can eventually get a complete list. thanks
Starting on Monday, June 10, Rootsweb will start upgrading some of their computers. What this means for us is that the sites and/or mail lists may be unavailable for a short period of time. If you get a message stating that the site cannot be found, then try again a short time later. Same thing for the mail lists. It is also possible they may make the change without us ever noticing. Just wanted you to be aware in case you have any problems. jimmy
I do not have a list of sheriffs. I found Sheriff Lewis J. Lampkin in Annals of Athens by Augustus L.Hull.
