I hope someone can assist me establishing a relationship between Joshua C. ELLIS & William ELLIS. William ELLIS purchased forty acres more or less land in the third district second section of Cherokee County #624 in Aug 1841. The copy of the record is difficult to read, but the name Richard also appears in the record and it appears the land had been granted to Ruben Simmons. My GG-Grandfather was Joshua C ELLIS., who is listed in the 1840 Census or Cherokee County. Also listed in the 1840 Cherokee County Census is a William ELLIS with one male of an age to possibly be Joshua'a father. Joshua C Ellis is listed in the 1850 Census of Forsyth County. He moved to Arkansas in the late 1850's along with his fatther-in-law Hiram Kelly, and brother-in-laws Joseph & Jesse Kelly and their families. My DREAM is to find some document to establish kinship between Joshua & William. Joshua named his first born son William, and Joshua's son Joshua named his first born son William.
