Theron Monroe GAGE (1880-1942) who married Della SAMPLES 5 Feb 1909 was son of Alonzo M and Laura (MONROE) GAGE. Theron and Laura were also parents of D. Harrison Gage born 1878 and Homer Gordon Gage born 1889. When the 1880 Census of Hightower, Forsyth County GA was recorded, Laura MONROE Gage's 62 year old mother Mary KELLY Monroe was residing in the Hightower, Fortsyth County GA home of Laura & Alonzo GAGE and sons Homer Gordon & D. Harrison. The Gages named their third child for Laura's father Theron Monroe GAGE. It is believed that Theron Monroe was born 11 Jul 1814 in Spartanburg, SC. He died 8 Apr 1878 and is buried at Diana's Chapel, Scudder's Cemetery in Forsyth County. I am attempting to document the heritage of Theron Monroe. Mary Kelly's sister married Thomas MONROE son of Jesse & Martha Monroe. Considering the age and birth state, it is possible that Theron & Jesse Monroe were brothers. There is also speculation that they are related to Daniel Patrick Monroe of Dawson County. Jesse Monroe, his two wives, some grandchildren and I believe his son Perry are buried in the Monroe Family Cemetery in Pickens County. Census data indicates some of the Monroes were born in South Carolina. My research has not produced evidence to establish the relationship, if any between these Monroe Families. I hope that somewhere there is a family Bible containing birth and marriage data providing documentation of the various relationships. All suggestions and adivice is welcome.
