    2. Hi John, Was your Price family connected to the Neville family? I also know that some Price family were cousins to my Beck family in Ballground, Georgia through Rebecca Neville who married a Price. Thanks, Nancy ============================================================ From: "John Price" <johnp@sanctum.com> Date: 2006/03/25 Sat PM 03:22:56 EST To: GACHEROK-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [GACHEROK-L] Where has everyone gone I'm still here, trying to find information about the James A. Price family (Cherokee County) - late 1800's - early 1900's and his wife (My grandmother) Rebecca Carnes. I would be happy to find out anything I can about their descendants (uncles and cousins who I have lost touch with) as well as their ancestors. James A passed away in 1964 in Atlanta, and Rebecca passed away in Atlanta a few years later. I was in touch with a lady via email named Paula I believe. She was a distant cousin on the Carnes side. Since my hard drive crash I have lost a lot of information relevant to her and our relatives in common. If anyone knows anything about the Price-Carnes family and would be willing to share it I would appreciate it. Thanks, John John M. 3. Nancy, I can remember as a child hearing my Dad talk of the times when his uncle would take him to Ballgtround. At the time, I thought it was a sports facility. Only after I was grown I found that it was a town. My Grandmother Rebecca was a Carnes before marrying my Grandfather. The Carnes' have done a pretty good job of keeping track of their heritage; the Price's never took that much interest in genealogy. I am currently working in Florida, so not much chance of moving soon. I had entertained the idea of possibly moving to Georgia after I retire so I could be closer to my "roots" and learn more about my heritage. If I do, it will probably not be all the way to Cherokee County, but close enough for a comfortable drive. Grandchildren are also a powerful force and I have three of them within a few miles. I wouldn't want to move so far north that I couldn't get in the car one day and "go see the kids". Perhaps somewhere in between. Thanks, John John M. 1. Ballground

    3. The legend about Ballground does have a sort of sports connection. Supposedly the Creek or Cherokee Indians used that area to participate in an athletic event that resembled lacrosse. My g-gf (Fletcher Lowery, b 1849; died 1902) was born there and very possibly is buried in a cemetery in that area. 3. I guess it doesn't make a lot of difference as far as research is concerned, but the proper spelling is two words: Ball Ground. ----- Original Message ----- From: Donald Pruitt <sazabylex@ctc.net> To: <GACHEROK-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, March 31, 2006 9:41 PM Subject: Ballground > The legend about Ballground does have a sort of sports connection. > Supposedly the Creek or Cherokee Indians used that area to participate in an > athletic event that resembled lacrosse. > > My g-gf (Fletcher Lowery, b 1849; died 1902) was born there and very > possibly is buried in a cemetery in that area. > > Don Pruitt > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "John Price" <johnp@sanctum.com> > To: <GACHEROK-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Friday, March 31, 2006 9:05 PM > Subject: RE: RE: [GACHEROK-L] Where has everyone gone > > > > Nancy, > > I can remember as a child hearing my Dad talk of the times when his uncle > > would take him to Ballgtround.
