The Heritage of Cherokee County 1831-1998 includes a family history of the Abel Waldrup family submitted by Ms. Frances S. Daugherty of 598 Charlton Court, Marietta, Georgia 30064. Among other sources, she cited family Bibles. According to the story, Abel and Sarah Waldrup were natives of South Carolina who moved to Cherokee County in 1869 after their children were grown. They had lived in Gwinnett County for the previous 35 years. Their children were: William Rhodes (b 1828), Nancy (b 1829), Rebecca Ann (b 1832), Mary Stewart (b 1834), James Mayson (b 1836), Rachel (b 1840), George Washington (b 1844) and Francis Marion "Frank"(b 1849). Abel and Sarah came first to Cherokee County with their two youngest sons, George and Frank. Soon theri four married daughters, Nancy Miller, Rebecca Pittman, Mary Anderson and Rechel Defoor followed with their husbands. The article contains a lot more family information.
