Hi If your ancestor was from either Cobb or Cherokee county, it is likely that he was part of the 40th, 41st, 42nd, 43rd or 52nd Infantry Regiments under Generals Barton and Stovall, often referred to as Stovall's Brigade. There is an association of descendants of these regiments that is quite active. It is called General Barton and Stovall's History-Heritage Association. The website is www.generalbartonandstovall.com. There is tons of information on the website and Gary Goodson and others in the club are very helpful in research. My grandfather and his brother were part of the Ga 41st and they are buried at Sixes and Enon Cemetaries in Woodstock. They both have markers, but I'm not sure when or how the markers were placed there. Good luck in your search.
