Jan, I descend from the Levi Rainwater b ca 1780 (NC) hence to Gabriel Rainwater b 1805(SC) hence to Susannah Elizabeth Rainwater b 1832 (SC). I note in some of my old papers that there was a Matthew Rainwater b ca 1790 and eventually migrated to Richmond Co., NC. Do not have records of you Beatman or whether that Michael could be the same one but appears too long a gap there. There is a Rainwater page on rootsweb. It is not very active now, but the Rainwater line has been extensively researched going back into the early part of the 20th century. There is a lot of contentous arguments about some of the research most stemming back to what is known as the Folmar Chart. There is a lady named Susan Chance Rainwater who has a rather large website. Just put her name in a search engine and you should be able to get to the site. The rootsweb board is RAINWATER-L@rootsweb.com Hope this helps. You do not indicate where you come from or where these ancestors were. Sometimes that can provide a lead. Sorry that I can not be more help.
