    3. Big Springs Methodist Cemetery is east of Canton in Cherokee County. Take Hwy 140 out of Canton toward Roswell for about 8 miles, then turn left ofn Sugar Pike Road. The church is on the right side of the road about 1/2 mile from the turn. The cemetery is on the left side. Levi's grave is not listed in Shirley Morris' cemetery survey book, which suggests that his marker was either never put up or it was destroyed. Two notices were contained in a collection published by John Carver. The first, on November 29, 1889 noted that he died the previous Sunday at his home near Batesville and was born in 1812 in Buncombe County, North Carolina. Teh second was carried in teh December 20, 1889 issue of the Cherokee Advance and it defintely says he was a member of the Methodist church for 50 years and was buried at Big Springs. The dates were 1812 - November 24, 1889. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mickey Watts" <ma.watts@comcast.net> To: <GACHEROK-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, October 02, 2005 3:55 PM Subject: [GACHEROK-L] BIG SPRINGS > RECENTLY FOUND OBITUARY OF LONG LOST ANCESTOR, LEVI WATTS, 1912-1889 IN > "THE CHEROKEE ADVANCE".
