Mary, I checked the Cherokee County Marriage Index, Book E, 2 APR 1868 - 1 JAN 1885 (one marriage in 1889) There is no Frances or Fannie Wates/Waits. These are the 2 records that I found: WAITES, M. J.(bride) married FOWLER, W. She married James W Webb b 1848 SC They first show up married there in Cherokee Co, Hickory Flat on the 1880 census with first child Laura age 3. I am searching for hopefully a marriage record that should be around 1877 or somewhere before the 1880 census. I believe there is a good chance they were married in Cherokee Co GA. I have her death record for 1929 Troup Co GA. It states she was born in TN and mother was Sarah and father Charlie. I cannot find her in a family with parents of this names. The closest match I can find is the Madison Wait Sarah Walker family in 1860 Oak Grove, Fulton Co GA. I have checked every census I can think of and every possible spelling of the last name.
