When you are looking from 1850 era in Cherokee Co, GA you need to realize that old Milton Co. was in existence from 1857-1931 when it went bankrupt and was taken in by Fulton Co. To add to our misery the wagon that hauled the county records from Alpharetta to Atlanta seemed to have gotten lost and where never found. There are a few incidental records at the Fulton Co. courthouse but you have to be fairly brave to go there even before the incident last year and now it would be more difficult to gain access. I found some things there in the late 1980's so it may be possible to do that. I had Pruitts and Rainwaters who settled around Hickory Flat around 1840 and they continued to go back and forth between old Milton and Cherokee Co. during the 1857-1885 period. Just thought some of you who are not familiar with the area need to be aware of this. Don Pruitt
