Julius L. Dowda of Cherokee Co and Fulton Co. Born- June 27, 1838 Died- Jan. 13, 1913 I am not related but the historian of Hillcrest Cemetery in East Point. and for the Hillcrest Memorial Association. He is buried there and one of our "Highlight" graves. We know him as "Julious" (with an "O") I am looking for a photo to include on the Confederate veterans page of the Historians site for the cemetery as well as to place in the cemetery records once we have them transcribed, also helps when I give tours to place photos on graves so people can put a face to the story and the grave. If you happen to have one to share, I have a policy of stating that the photo belongs to and is copyrighted to the person that loaned the image to be used, I also block the page from right clicks to protect the vets photos. We have photos of two of the 3 vets in the cemetery and Julius' tribute for the cemetery historys sake is blank. Here is the site and a photo of his gravestone is there along with a little about him, not much but I am working on it. The photo is linked so it can be followed to anther page where it can be saved and downloaded. http://www.geocities.com/memories_in_stone/hillcrest.html once there, click on the "Confederate Veterans of Hillcrest" link in the menu near the top of the page. We have a link to another site that has his diary. I would also like to confirm for placement in the HIstory of the cemetery I am writing if the Julius Dowda in HIllcrest is the same that was a Methodist Minister? Also would like contact with the family member that is care taker of the grave (or the person in the family known to have control) We would like to as a Confederate Medal stake placed on the grave and we will raise the funds to do so. If anyone is related, can share info and maybe a photo, please contact us. Thanks Once again to view his gravestone... http://www.geocities.com/memories_in_stone/hillcrest.html once there, click on the "Confederate Veterans of Hillcrest" link in the menu near the top of the page.
