Hello, I have been trying to trace my ancestor, John W. Gossett, and I think he moved to Cherokee County from Madison. There is a John Gosset in the 1850 census index (household # 1186). Does anyone have access to this census? What about the 1840 census? Also, does anyone have a transcription of the Gossett Cemetery there in Cherokee? Thanks, Peter J. Found them in 1850. I included the next door neighbor, as it's likely he is his son. If this is the right John Gossett, let me know and I'll see if I can find him in 1840 for you. Ancestry doesn't have the 1840 linked, but Madison County at usgenweb does, so I went ahead and am copying and pasting here from the information (not images, but a transcription) that they have online. Margaret 'Peggy' Gossett is my gggrandmother. She was born in 1818 in SC, lived in Polk Co TN, and is buried in GA. She passed away 1/12/1868. She's not buried with her husband Edward 'Ned' P.
